Wanted: Help Topics

[codefenix-dev]

I recently added some new help text files in commit f6f691f, covering some topics which seemed pretty basic but weren't previously explained anywhere, therefore a new user might not necessarily know about them.

It made me wonder what other helpful topics uMRC is currently missing.

If anyone has any ideas for help topics uMRC should cover, please suggest them here!

To be considered for inclusion, topics must be:

• Easy to describe in less than 1 screen's worth of text; around 20 lines. Keep it simple. :)
• Not already covered in any of the existing local help files or server help topics (i.e.: not shown in /quote help).

Current help topics are (as of Oct 22, 2026):

/help .......... Basic local command list
/help colors ... Pipe color code usage
 /help ctcp ..... Client-to-client protocol usage
/help input .... Basic chat input usage
 /help mentions . About mentions
 /help nick ..... Display Name/Nick settings menu
 /help scroll ... About scrollback
/help set ...... Chatter settings menu
/help topics ... List of available topics (this list)
/help twit ..... Twit list management
/? ............. Show list of SERVER commands
