While the example is in .NET, the basic principles remain applicable across languages so it would not matter if its written in C++

There is a great example in the Notepad++ repository:

And they did it in a smart way, so when regsvr32 is executed, if running on Windows 11, the sparse package gets registered as well. I hope it helps
