Migration Support: v9 to v10

mxpy v10 contains a few changes compared to the previous version that we'll go through bellow. The changes consist of some breaking changes with some things being removed, but also some new features and improved usability.

mxpy contract

Some smart contract related commands like: build, test, report have been deleted. Please use sc-meta for smart contract development.

Commands such as deploy, call and query are still available. To see all the available commands, please run:

mxpy contract -h

mxpy deps install rust

The Rust dependency has been dropped no longer being needed after the removal of the above mentioned contract commands.

mxpy account get && mxpy transaction get

The two commands have been removed due to not being very helpful. A simple curl or wget request to the API can be easily performed to replace these commands.

--estimate-gas flag

The --estimate-gas flag was removed. Gas limit estimation is performed by default for all commands where possible (excluding smart contract related transactions). If the user explicitly provides the --gas-limit argument, the value will overwrite the estimated value.

wallet index

Previously, each wallet type had its own --index argument (e.g. --pem-index, --ledger-address-index). Since only one wallet can be provided at once, we've decided to only use one index argument for all wallet types. The arguments are as follows:

--sender-wallet-index --> can be used for the sender wallet
--guardian-wallet-index --> can be used in case a guardian wallet is provided
--relayer-wallet-index --> can be used in case a relayer wallet is provided

Added new prefix for address arguments

Previously, if an address was provided for --arguments, mxpy would know it's an address and knew how to encode it. This flow is still possible, but it's considered legacy and will be removed in the future. If you want to provide an address as an argument, please use the addr: prefix.

mxpy contract call ... --arguments addr:erd1qyu5wthldzr8wx5c9ucg8kjagg0jfs53s8nr3zpz3hypefsdd8ssycr6th

The installation script was deprecated and not maintained anymore so it was deleted. We recommend installing mxpy using pipx.

mxpy validator-wallet

A new command group has been added and it can be used to create a validator wallet and to sing and verify messages using a validator wallet. For more information about this command, please run:

mxpy validator-wallet -h

relayed transactions v1

With relayed transactions v3 being live, we dropped support for relayed v1 since that will be deactivated from the protocol in the upcoming releases.
