I think it's great that the dev server no longer can crash because it waits for the start() call, but I think it should technically "start" sooner than that but with either a stalled load in the browser (spin until it's ready and then load the page) or with an actual "hold please" page that reloads once start() is called. I think this would help make it clear you're still "waiting" but it's not because something went wrong. (...yet.)
