Installing macOS 27 beta restore image results in error

I downloaded UniversalMac_27.0_26A5353q_Restore.ipsw from the Apple developer website, but installing it with 100 GB disk size results in the error:

An error occurred during installation. AMRestorePerformRestoreModeRestoreWithError failed with error: 10

(Error Code: 10007, Underlying Error Domain: com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore, Underlying Error Code: -1)

I tried using the "Download latest" button, but that seems to download macOS 26.5.1 (Build 25F80). That "latest" is ambiguous...

I'm seeing the exact same error. Installing "Device Support for macOS 27 beta" from the apple developer website did not help.

Other apps on the macOS App Store can't install 27 beta 1 as well.

Currently, I have no idea how to install macOS 27 beta 1 (on a 26.5.1 host).

I just filed a radar for Apple to look into this issue (FB23041237).

Thanks for looking into this! I wonder what the official way of trying out this beta is... in the past few years I wasn't even able to install new macOS versions on external partitions, which is why I looked for an alternative way and found out about the new virtualization framework, and now even that doesn't work anymore...

The issue seems to be acknowledged by Apple in their forum.

After installing Xcode 27 beta 1, I can no longer install any version of macOS using Virtualization Framework at all, as reported by others in the apple forum thread above.

I read in the Xcode release notes (I think) that reinstalling macOS should solve this problem. I just did, and now immediately after trying to install macOS 27 beta 3 I get the error

A software update is required to complete the installation. Installation requires a software update.

I'm sorry, but who are you to recommend another app? Are you a contributor of virtualOS? If not, I'm not sure this kind of comment is appreciated by everyone here.
