Advanced Local Agent Protocol
A deterministic, high-octane local coding agent optimized for speed and autonomy.
Architecture engineered for extreme performance. No forced UI layers. No external dependencies. Strict local operations. Authored by fivesaw.
Open Saw is an advanced command-line coding intelligence system. It embeds deeply into the developer workflow, providing high-fidelity code modifications directly inside the source tree.
By eliminating bloated web wrappers, Open Saw accelerates inference output and executes file operations through a robust memory-safe backend compiled purely in Rust. It utilizes a strict, minimalist Forest Green palette out of the box that reduces visual fatigue whilst retaining maximum data readability.
| Module | Specification |
|---|---|
| ↬ Compiled Security | Developed entirely in Rust. Memory-safe. Predictable runtime execution. |
| ↬ Autonomous Target | Automated repository traversal, file context aggregation, and dynamic commit generation. |
| ↬ CLI Integration | Terminal-native architecture. Operates seamlessly parallel to your standard shell commands. |
| ↬ Provider Agnostic | Unrestricted internal payload structuring. Supply an API key; open the connection. Complete access. |
Open Saw distributes as a standalone, zero-dependency executable engineered for Microsoft Windows.
- Navigate to the Releases module on this repository.
- Store
OpenSaw-Setup.exeonto your local disk. - Execute the setup package.
- The deployment engine will automatically provision global system
$PATHvariables and compile minimal desktop routing shortcuts utilizing the official core icon.
Engage the environment by pressing the generated Desktop icon or executing the primary directive from any command terminal:
sawThe system will intercept the invocation and spool up the interactive REPL instance.
Open Saw operates via a structured prompt protocol. Upon REPL initialization, the primary commands include:
▪ /help : Output comprehensive syntax schema.
▪ /status : Dump local diagnostic telemetry.
▪ /model [id] : Hotboard the inference hardware mid-execution.
▪ /permissions : Restrict or expand host filesystem access boundaries.
To inject a singular prompt command without sustaining the REPL session:
saw prompt "Refactor the file_ops.rs module to add better error handling"Open Saw emerged from the necessity to construct an uncompromising, purely local agent environment. Complex IDE extensions and heavy SaaS bindings inherently restrict developer freedom. The objective of this protocol is strict alignment with the UNIX philosophy: do one thing, and do it optimally.
We decoupled the standard cloud restrictions, stripped graphical constraints, and developed an aggressive logic loop using Rust's async runtime. Open Saw delivers uncompromised execution scaling and total model agnosticism.
