Add a download page that detects Windows visitors - #236
willwashburn wants to merge 3 commits into
Conversation
Agent Relay Desktop ships Windows builds now, but the site had no
download page. This adds /download and detects the visitor's platform
from the request (User-Agent plus Sec-CH-UA-* hints) so Windows visitors
get the Windows build in the first response rather than after hydration.
Windows links point at the release zips, since the workflow publishes
AgentRelay-Windows-{x64,arm64}.zip rather than a standalone installer.
Windows users are told to unpack and run agent-relay.exe and warned
about the unsigned-binary SmartScreen prompt.
Also lists macOS and Linux options, adds tarball alternatives for Linux,
links to release checksums, and adds the route to the sitemap, nav, and
footer.

Download catalog and detection web/lib/desktop-downloads.ts, web/lib/test/desktop-downloads.test.ts |
Adds download metadata and helpers for selecting assets by platform and architecture. Detection uses user-agent and client-hint data, with platform-specific defaults. Tests cover supported platforms, architecture selection, and unrecognized or mobile user agents. |
Download page and presentation web/app/download/page.tsx, web/app/download/download.module.css |
Adds a request-aware page that recommends a detected download or prompts visitors to choose. The page shows platform assets, installation notes, Linux tarball alternatives, release information, and a Windows warning. Styles cover platform cards and responsive layouts. |
Download page links web/components/SiteNav.tsx, web/components/SiteFooter.tsx, web/app/sitemap.ts |
Adds /download to desktop and mobile navigation, the Products footer column, and the static sitemap. |

The page is broadly mergeable, but its Windows guidance should not recommend disabling system protection unless the installer is actually blocked.

For Mac or Windows, Linux too,
A download waits with notes to view.

v2026.10.55 publishes AgentRelay-Windows-{x64,arm64}-Setup.exe, the
per-user installer the release notes recommend, so point the primary
Windows download at it. The zips stay as the portable alternative, matched
by the existing tarball treatment on the Linux card.

Keep main's download page, catalog, and footer. Detect the visitor's platform from the request so the matching installer is in the first response. Ask Chromium for Sec-CH-UA-Arch with Accept-CH and Critical-CH, and mention Smart App Control only if it blocks the unsigned installer. Summary
Agent Relay Desktop ships Windows builds now, but the site had no download page, so Windows visitors had nowhere to get the app. This adds
/downloadand detects the visitor's platform on the server so Windows users see the Windows build immediately. What it does
User-Agentplus theSec-CH-UA-Platform/Sec-CH-UA-Archclient hints, in the server component, so the correct CTA is in the first response instead of swapping after hydration.AgentRelay-Windows-{x64,arm64}-Setup.exe, the per-user installer the v2026.10.55 release notes recommend. The portable.zipbuilds for both architectures sit beside it as the alternative./downloadto the sitemap, desktop/mobile nav, and the footer Products column. All links use the
releases/latest/download/asset names fromrelay-desktop's release workflow, so new releases are served without a site deploy.Architecture detection follows the machine, not the browser's emulation: Windows on Arm gets the Arm64 build, x64 Windows gets x64.
Testing
