The site builds successfully but the deploy action fails when it tries to check out master in a second worktree. Publish the validated pkgdown output as a Pages artifact, then deploy that artifact directly from master. PRs build without deploying and write permissions are limited to Pages deployment.
Refresh the README before building and reject a navbar version that differs from DESCRIPTION. Render database examples as code only, retaining the previously published historical illustration, so documentation builds neither require a local Biotic database nor run database downloads or package-install snippets.
Validation: the complete local pkgdown build passed; the version guard accepts matching output and rejects stale navbar/citation fixtures. Pages publishing source is configured to GitHub Actions. Public publication follows merge.
