fix(scan): follow imports to a model base outside models.py (#135) - #136
Conversation
class Person(MyCustomModel) with MyCustomModel in core/base.py vanished: only models.py-style files are read, so the base had no definition and nothing below it was recognized as a model. The scan now follows the subclass's imports (plain, relative, module aliases, package re-exports) to the file defining each unknown base and feeds those classes into the fixed-point resolution, so the model and its inherited fields come back. Only inherited-from classes are read; nothing outside the workspace root is opened. Same change in the CLI and the extension, held to one shared fixture. Closes #135

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe CLI and extension now follow imports and re-exports to locate model base classes outside scanned model files. They add discovered definitions before resolving inheritance. Regression tests cover inherited fields, import forms, plain-class filtering, and workspace-root boundaries. ChangesImported model base resolution

excludeMatcher only understood **/dir/** and treated every other pattern as a substring, so **/*_test.py excluded nothing in the extension while the CLI's fnmatch excluded it. Imported-base loading now honours the same excludes on both sides.
Closes #135.
Problem
class Person(MyCustomModel)withMyCustomModeldefined in a module that is notmodels.py(core/base.py,common/db.py, …) was missing everywhere — sidebar, ER diagram, scan, MCP. Onlymodels.py,abstract_models.pyandmodels/*.pyare read, so the base had no definition to resolve against and nothing below it counted as a model.Fix
After collecting the model files, the scan follows each unknown base through the subclass's own imports to the file that defines it, then feeds those classes into the existing fixed-point resolution:
from core.base import MyCustomModel, relativefrom .base import Locatedfrom core import base as core_base→core_base.MyCustomModel__init__.py(bounded hops)Only classes a model actually inherits from are read from those files, so helpers sitting next to the base never show up as models. Nothing outside the workspace root is opened, and the usual excludes apply.
Same change in
cli/django_orm_lens/parser.py(reference) andsrc/parser.ts, both tested against one shared fixture,test/fixtures/base_outside_models/.Checks
