It records once, straight through, and marks the moment each question was asked, so a ninety-minute recording can be read back question by question afterwards instead of scrubbed through.

Nothing you did not ask it to. There is no server here. When the interview ends you are handed two files — the recording, and a sidecar holding the consent you recorded, your marks and your notes. They stay in the browser until you save them, and the browser's copy is deleted only when you say so.
If someone has given you a one-time code for a Farm Hack box, you can send the interview to that box directly and it will answer with a receipt: the checksum of the audio it stored, the length it measured against the length you recorded, how many of your marks found their question, and whether it sealed and verified. Only then does it say your copy is a second copy rather than the only one.
The original audio and the exact questions it was recorded against are sealed together as one package, read-only, before anything is derived from it. Every transcript, every analysis, every quote comes from that pair. If a participant withdraws, the package is destroyed and a tombstone keeps the checksums and the reason — a withdrawal you cannot demonstrate having honoured is worth very little to the person who asked for it.
The consent screen is not a formality and cannot be skipped. It asks, in plain words, what will be recorded, where it will be processed, who may hear it and what may be quoted, and it will not start the interview until it has been read. Participant-facing consent text is shown only in languages a speaker has reviewed — a machine-drafted translation is fine for finding your way around the tool and is not informed consent.
This page makes no requests to anyone. It loads no fonts, no analytics, no libraries, no tiles. Everything it needs is in the file. You can read it — it is not minified — and you can check with your browser's network tab, which should stay empty for the whole interview.
