ci(windows): record bounded Bash temp diagnostics - #2180
Merge current main; preserve original diagnostic behavior and current Race caches; reconcile the workflow checksum.
Current candidate: 5fdcd76c4e5110e1ac8c7de32b28a7bb90253536, integrated with canonical main 7cf4ed29. Existing source history is preserved by a merge commit; no forced rewrite.
Earlier integration verification
98 Node CI, Windows suite, metadata and Bash diagnostic contracts PASS.
Local verification used native Windows, Node 24.14.0 and cached Go 1.26.10. Git Bash was selected explicitly where required. Preparation/environment failures and the bounded broad-suite failures above remain historical failures; focused passes do not retroactively qualify them.
Current-head GitHub CI, cross-platform results and maintainer review remain pending until publication and execution. Local results are not a release or merge verdict.
Scope and remaining work
Representative diagnostics do not establish actual-child causality or fix the Windows baseline.
No change to required contexts, merge queue settings or assertion/deadline budgets is included in this integration.
CodeRabbit follow-up on this candidate
Both post-suite diagnostic collection and artifact upload continue on error, so its failure remains visible without overriding the Go suite/job result. The original Go command and exit propagation remain strict; tests explicitly reject continue-on-error on the suite step. Exact workflow hash and contributor guidance are updated.
The new nonfatal-diagnostic regression failed before the workflow fix. node --test .github/scripts/windows-suite.test.mjs .github/scripts/windows-bash-temp-diagnostics.test.mjs .github/scripts/ci-technical-contracts.test.mjs .github/scripts/issue-refresh-router-workflow.test.mjs: 99 PASS, 0 FAIL. Negative controls retain failure propagation from the actual Go suite.
Current-head hosted CI and CodeRabbit re-evaluation remain pending. Earlier broad-suite failures remain failed history; focused follow-up results do not qualify those runs. Draft/ready states are preserved; no merge, queue or release action is included.
Artifact upload follow-up
Diagnostic artifact upload is also nonfatal; collection/upload failures remain visible while the actual Go suite retains strict exit propagation. Regression tests reject masking the suite and require both diagnostic steps to be nonfatal. All 99 Node contracts passed (4.708s). Hosted CI and review of this head remain pending.

Walkthrough
The Windows CI job now records selected Bash temporary-directory context and collects representative Bash path and process diagnostics after the suite. It uploads the diagnostic output and includes tests and documentation for the collection behavior and workflow wiring.

Summary
Diagnostic collection and results .github/scripts/windows-bash-temp-diagnostics.mjs, .github/scripts/windows-bash-temp-diagnostics.test.mjs
The script snapshots selected environment aliases and context, then collects Bash path and process observations for three cases. Tests check successful collection, output and errors, secret exclusion, and scratch cleanup.
CI wiring and supporting checks .github/workflows/ci.yml, .github/scripts/windows-suite.test.mjs, .github/scripts/issue-refresh-router-workflow.test.mjs, CONTRIBUTING.md
The workflow captures prerequisite context, snapshots before test-state setup, collects after the suite, and uploads diagnostics. Contract tests check the wiring. The documentation describes the diagnostic scope and limitations. The workflow baseline test updates the expected CI workflow hash.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The changes meet the coding requirements in directly linked issue #2179. The workflow records the required Windows, Bash, path, directory, and toolchain context. The collector records allowlisted aliases, including unset values, and representative child exit status, stdout, stderr, setup errors, timeout data, and cleanup status. The original suite remains strict and runs before post-suite diagnostics. Artifact upload uses a failure-capable, cancellation-aware guard. Tests cover ordering, stream preservation, failure handling, cleanup, and workflow wiring. The changes do not repair temporary paths, change fixtures or production code, suppress warnings, alter suite assertions, increase timeouts, or change required checks.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes remain within issue #2179. The collector, workflow wiring, contract tests, documentation, and updated workflow checksum support the bounded CI observability objective. Path handling and related tests support reliable representative collection. The changes show no unrelated production or fixture work, global TEMP or /tmp repair, warning suppression, test filtering, assertion or deadline budget change, required-check change, merge-queue change, or release action.

Integrate pinned main without rewriting the published diagnostic branch so existing startup, autosync and fake-store fixture corrections are reused rather than duplicated. Preserve the representative Bash collector and workflow guards unchanged.
Updated the existing branch with non-rewriting integration commit 7c302558d50a04438d4b6db22d7f3cfd195648e9, incorporating pinned main a6f66c2 and its already-merged fixture fixes rather than duplicating them. The six diagnostic PR files remain byte-identical to the previous head; there were no conflicts or newly authored source changes.
Local evidence on the exact integrated tree: 92 Node contracts passed, 15 focused native Windows race/lifecycle tests passed, and independent integration verification passed. The initial Go 1.26.4 launcher-selection failure ran no tests; the successful invocation explicitly selected already-cached Go 1.26.10. Native four-lens review was approved and acknowledged, with one non-blocking informational observation and no correction to the reviewed candidate.
Fresh current-head CI and CodeRabbit are now pending. Previous Windows failures are not waived: #1891 owns residual HTTP/package-budget qualification, and local focused success does not establish hosted Linux Race or full Windows success. No merge-queue submission has been made.

Prevent artifact upload failures from changing the job conclusion.
The workflow sets continue-on-error: true only on the collection step. The later actions/upload-artifact step has if: always() but no continue-on-error. A transient upload failure can therefore fail the job. Add continue-on-error: true to the upload step, or limit this documentation to the collection step.

Closes #2179
Problem and result
Merge current main; preserve original diagnostic behavior and current Race caches; reconcile the workflow checksum.
Current candidate:

98 Node CI, Windows suite, metadata and Bash diagnostic contracts PASS.
Local verification used native Windows, Node 24.14.0 and cached Go 1.26.10. Git Bash was selected explicitly where required. Preparation/environment failures and the bounded broad-suite failures above remain historical failures; focused passes do not retroactively qualify them.
Current-head GitHub CI, cross-platform results and maintainer review remain pending until publication and execution. Local results are not a release or merge verdict.

Negative controls retain failure propagation from the actual Go suite.Current-head hosted CI and CodeRabbit re-evaluation remain pending.
