macOS update downloads currently fail because the releases do not include the ZIP expected by the updater, and the unsigned builds require manual installation. The update notification now offers “Open GitHub Releases” and explains that the DMG must be downloaded and installed manually.
On macOS, the download IPC opens the latest release page instead of invoking the updater, then closes the notification without leaving it in the downloading state. Automatic installation is also blocked on macOS. The README documents this update flow; update checks and other platforms retain their existing behavior.
Validation:
node --check electron.mjsandgit diff --checkpassed. Packaged macOS behavior still requires manual validation; build/typecheck were not run.Fixes #600
