i agree with emily! |

There is currently no active commit bit delegation nor nixpkgs core team, so this application will unfortunately have to sit for a bit until we get our procedures in order. In the meanwhile, I updated the old

good interaction with them. would be happy to see them with a commit bit

only good contributions from @illdefined, i approve this |

I know it's a bit hypocritical because I've done the exact thing in the past1, but @LennyPenny @derf @katjakwast, would you mind (very briefly) commenting the reason for your 👎 reactions? drive-by downvotes aren't helpful and generally suck for the nominee2 Footnotes

I can't speak for others, but I know that illdefined is not on best personal terms with quite a few people, because of things that happened mostly outside of NixOS, but there is always overlap between communities Edit: "not on best personal terms" is quite an euphemism: https://chaos.social/@marble/117293379629083841. I know of at least one confirmed person in the NixOS community who knew Michael as a minor |

I would like to point out that this PR is about determining if the nominee is capable of judging if a contribiution to nixpkgs is ready to be merged or not and act accordingly. For that the nominee needs to be experienced with nix, nixpkgs and the nixpkgs contribution guidelines. I think that @illdefined is well capable of juding the quality of a contribution and always offers valuable advice for improvements. I don't think that someones dating patterns or personal conflicts should be a relevant metric in measuring their technical competence. |
|
Committers are trusted members of Nixos, and do in some capacity act as representatives. If technical excellence truly was the sole requirement for the commit bit, then we could've had a written exam instead of this public application and vouching process. |
I do also know at least two people who fit this criteria. I was previously a committer but asked for removal of that right because I was not using it enough. I stand in opposition of this nomination.
@pbsds: Edit: thanks for clarifying, I misunderstood your comment.
Trust as a concept is build through human interaction and not a direct result of the work put into tech.
The accusations are grooming of underage people. |

Two additional points:

I would recommend to deny @illdefined any authority in your community project - even just over deciding whose commits pass - as it enables the behavior describe in my posts. https://chaos.social/@marble/117293379629083841 i refrain from describing my personal interactions with them here, for the reasons mentioned by @riotbib. edit: wrong tab completion |

I'll spend a ping just to clarify: I have not expressed support for this nomination. In #125 (comment) I imply opposition. |
I would like to nominate @illdefined for commit access. They have been very actively contributing and are trying to push things forward.
