The DM footer now reads the model only from Core's configured-thread answer, and floating sidebars no longer cover tooltips.

Cause of the missing tooltip: SideBar used overlay=screen, whose compositor order discarded the authored layer and sorted the screen tooltip behind the sidebar. Floating sidebars now use absolute positioning on comms-sidebar, below Textual's tooltip layer. DmConversation consumes comms.configuration.answer(target) directly, and Prompt renders its existing status owner for simple DM inputs so the model is visible rather than dormant.

Installed-path verification on isolated display :77 used Toad code 1bd5ca63126f4a4dbfb49ebb33a5565d3c737cc2 and Core f99657c05838b3a9014732fab4378396f46c7d02; pip check passed. The footer painted openai-codex/gpt-5.6-sol, matching Core's configured answer, while the tooltip painted in front of the floating sidebar.

Installed DM footer and floating-sidebar tooltip

…ltip layer

DmConversation.agent_info names the thread's configured model through
Core resolve_thread_model, the same answer the sidebar rows and tooltips
read, while context usage still comes from the runtime observation.

The floating sidebar painted as an overlay subtree, which the compositor
orders above every named layer, so each thread-row tooltip lost its cells
to the sidebar background: placed on-screen with the right content, never
painted. The sidebars now float by absolute position on a comms-sidebar
layer below _tooltips instead of overlay=screen.
The layers property only feeds the screen's direct children; nested
arrangement reads the authored layers rule, so the sidebar kept index 0
and the session content covered it. The matching rule keeps the sidebar
above content and below the tooltip screen-wide.
