🧹 Remove unnecessary clone and fix lock starvation in web server - #162
Conversation
…tarvation This commit refactors the `web.rs` server implementations (lines 401 and 469) to acquire the `PAGE_CONTENT` mutex lock *after* waiting for an incoming request instead of holding it beforehand. This resolves an underlying bug where the server would serve stale content and block other threads while waiting for network I/O, while simultaneously avoiding an unnecessary string clone by dereferencing the mutex guard instead. 🎯 What: The
PAGE_CONTENTmutex was being cloned unnecessarily, and worse, it was being locked before blocking on a networkrecv()call.💡 Why: By locking the mutex after unblocking from the
recv()call, this improvement fixes a major concurrency bug that caused lock starvation and stale content serving, while also improving memory efficiency by removing the extra allocation.✅ Verification: Re-ran
cargo test --workspaceto ensure all tests passed successfully, and reviewed the change via code review which confirmed the patch correctness.✨ Result: Improved maintainability, safer concurrent code execution, and reduced memory footprint.
