This PR is a POC of aiopowerwall v0.7.0 logging in, and pulling status and config data via v1r on a 9 year old PW2 on an early Gateway 1.
I've had this login (and control - reserve, mode) working via pypowerwallserver and Jack Rayners pypowerwall Tesla pypowerwall HA integration (which is using pypowerwall under the covers).
This is the PoC for a minimal change to v0.7.0 of the aiopowerwall - run outside of HA, with no test fixtures, just
symlinking the source of an existing test directory - including keys, .env files, auth files, etc., into the src directory of your aiopowerwall repo that I cloned, so I could run against your source library, because I was pretty certain that the last five characters of the password was causing the 401 return I was getting when I attempted to log in.
pip install python-dotenv
pip install aiohttp
pip install google
pip install cryptography
pip install tesla-protocol
That was enough to run and prove it works.
This PR includes the original commit and subsequent commits to remove changes to .gitignore that I made to ensure that extraneous source & secrets didn't get pushed, and to replace the symlink to the POC that did get pushed with the actual source.
Inline are partially redacted outputs from the test.
Next step, if I have the stamina, would be to edit in place in a full HA Dev Container, but I'll call it day for now, and leave this POC with you to consider.
The client and transport add a usefullpassword option. When enabled, the transport uses the full gateway password. Otherwise, it uses the last five characters. The linked usage demo connects with the option enabled.

Make the demo's python-dotenv import optional or declare the dependency.
The demo imports dotenv unconditionally at module level. python-dotenv is not in the project's declared dependencies, so a fresh install of the declared dependencies can fail with ModuleNotFoundError before the demo connects. The demo documents .env loading as optional, so the import can be made optional too.

The documented python testaiopowerwall.py command cannot open this path because Git stores it as a symlink whose target is the Python source text, not a file path. This blocks the proof-of-concept workflow, but the impact is limited to the added demo.
