Run CSV validation for every CSV job.
The body.csvText condition is false for "". An empty CSV request bypasses these checks, reaches generic ingestion, and can finish as a ready import with no staged tasks. Branch on job.flow_type === "csv" first, then validate body.csvText.

Reject empty header cells before indexing rows.
filter(Boolean) removes empty header cells but does not remove the matching data cells. For Task Name,,Status, the third data value is then assigned to no header and the second value is incorrectly assigned to Status. Reject files with empty headers, or retain every header position.

Do not parse ambiguous dates with the default strategy order.
parseDate tries UsDateStrategy before EuDateStrategy. A value such as 01/06/2026 is always stored as January 6, even when the CSV uses EU dates for June 1. Detect one date strategy per mapped date column, or require an explicit format for ambiguous values.

Enforce the CSV limit before the global JSON parser buffers the request.
express.json uses a global 50mb limit before the imports routes run. An ingest request larger than MAX_CSV_SIZE_BYTES can therefore be fully buffered before ImportsController.ingest rejects it. Add a request-size guard or parser before this global parser for both imports mounts. Size it for a 10 MB CSV plus JSON encoding overhead. Keep the controller check as defense in depth.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Parse date-only ISO values in local time, like the US and EU strategies.
new Date("2026-03-15") is parsed as UTC midnight. UsDateStrategy and EuDateStrategy build new Date(year, month - 1, day) in server-local time. If the server does not run in UTC, one column can give different toISOString() days depending on the format. A date-only ISO value can then move one day in the UI. When the value has no time part, build the date from its year, month and day.
Proposed fix
parse(value: string): Date | null {
- const d = new Date(value.trim());
+ const v = value.trim();
+ const dateOnly = /^(\d{4})-(\d{2})-(\d{2})$/.exec(v);
+ const d = dateOnly
+ ? new Date(+dateOnly[1], +dateOnly[2] - 1, +dateOnly[3])
+ : new Date(v);
+ if (dateOnly && d.getMonth() !== +dateOnly[2] - 1) return null;
return isValidDate(d) ? d : null;
}Based on learnings: "When parsing a date-only string (e.g. "YYYY-MM-DD") ... avoid new Date(dateString) directly since it is parsed as UTC midnight."

Update the ISO strategy’s parse method to detect date-only values and construct
them from year, month, and day in local time; keep the existing parsing path for
values with a time component. Reject invalid calendar dates before returning the
parsed date.

Treat mid-field inch marks as literal characters.
tokenizeCsv enters quote mode for any unescaped ". For Monitor 27" wide,Done\nNext task,Todo, it can ignore the later comma and newline and merge the remaining input into one field. countDelimiterOccurrences also undercounts delimiters on affected lines.
The input is not strictly RFC 4180-valid, but the importer does not reject it. It should not silently merge accepted upload data. Preserve the existing tolerance for leading whitespace before a quoted field.

Keep provider custom fields separate from CSV aliases.
normalizeTargetField is shared by all import providers. An included Asana custom field named Item or Column can be returned unchanged by guessTargetField, then normalize to key or status. mapRawToTaskFields writes those values to the standard task title or status, so the custom field can be lost or overwrite another source mapped to the same standard field.
Other names such as Hours, Points, Severity, Level, Tags, or Category are redirected to canonical custom-column keys instead of preserving their original custom-field keys. This can merge them with an existing canonical custom column.
Keep these synonyms in the CSV auto-mapping rules, where they map directly to canonical targets, instead of adding them to the global TARGET_FIELD_ALIASES.

Remove CSV-specific synonyms such as Item, Column, Hours, Points, Severity,
Level, Tags, and Category from the global TARGET_FIELD_ALIASES used by
normalizeTargetField, and keep their canonical mappings in the CSV auto-mapping
rules instead. This preserves provider custom-field names through
guessTargetField without changing CSV alias behavior.

Guard the final import action when Task Name is unmapped.
The mapping-step guard can be bypassed after the user reaches Review. furthestCompletedStep remains high when the user goes back, so the stepper can return to Review after the user disables the only included Task Name mapping. The Finish button then submits the import without checking the mapping.
The backend does not reject that row. When no title is mapped, the commit path can create a task named Untitled task.

CsvMappingStepsContent only renders a warning when Task Name is unmapped. It does not block the review step. The review component currently renders the ready banner whenever rows exist, so it can display “ready” without an included key mapping.
The final import already filters excluded columns. This is a minor review-state inconsistency and misleading readiness message; it does not cause the excluded columns to be imported.

around lines 254 - 331:
Update CsvReviewStepContent to base mapped fields and preview columns on
mappings whose sources are included in the import, using the same filtered
entries for both preview iterations. Show the ready-to-import banner only when
those included mappings contain the task-name target ('key'), and pass
includeInImport from ImportStepContent.

Overview
Adds the ability to import tasks from CSV files into WorkLenz projects. Users can upload a CSV, have columns automatically matched to WorkLenz fields, review a data preview, and import tasks — all through a guided wizard.
