  • Append current_project_id query string and include project_id in body for statusApiService.updateStatusOrder
  • Sync route projectId into Redux store and guard API calls with effectiveProjectId in project-view-board
  • Add optimistic reorder rollback in EnhancedKanbanBoardNativeDnD catch block
  • Add i18next localization with default values for reorder notifications
  • Fix strict TypeScript typing for DragOverlay and active drag items

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Kanban column reordering now uses the active project and refreshes the board after a failed update, unless a newer reorder is underway.
    • Board updates show a localized error and stop if no project ID is available.
    • Drag-related alerts are localized, and task cards appear in the drag overlay only when the required details are available.
    • Late board-loading results no longer replace data for a different active project.
  • Localization
    • Added a required project ID message in Albanian, Chinese, English, French, German, Polish, Portuguese, and Spanish.

📝 Walkthrough

The Kanban board synchronizes route project IDs with Redux and uses translated drag-related alerts. Status-order requests include the current project ID in the request URL and payload. The board serializes status reorders and guards failure recovery against newer requests and project changes. Group-fetch results for a different current project are ignored.

Changes: Kanban board ordering

Layer / File(s) Summary
Project ID and board interactions
worklenz-frontend/src/pages/projects/projectView/board/project-view-board.tsx, worklenz-frontend/public/locales/*/kanban-board.json
The board synchronizes the route project ID to Redux and uses it as a fallback when updating column order. If both project IDs are absent, it shows a translated error and stops the update. Drag-related alerts use translations. The drag overlay requires both a task and section ID. Eight locale files add the required-project-ID message.
Status-order request and recovery
worklenz-frontend/src/api/taskAttributes/status/status.api.service.ts, worklenz-frontend/src/components/enhanced-kanban/EnhancedKanbanBoardNativeDnD/EnhancedKanbanBoardNativeDnD.tsx
Status-order requests include the current project ID in the URL and payload. The board serializes status reorders. After an unsuccessful response or error, it refetches groups instead of reversing the optimistic order. Recovery and error alerts are guarded by the current request and project.
Project-aware group fetch results
worklenz-frontend/src/features/enhanced-kanban/enhanced-kanban.slice.ts, worklenz-frontend/src/features/enhanced-kanban/enhanced-kanban.slice.test.ts
The slice ignores fulfilled and rejected group-fetch actions for a project that differs from the current project. A reducer test checks that an older project A fetch does not replace project B’s groups.

Quickly switching between projects, or a failed status reorder followed by a recovery refetch, can leave the Kanban board showing an error or outdated groups. Add request-ID tracking to the group-fetch reducers before merging.

- Track status reorder request versions using a mutable ref in EnhancedKanbanBoardNativeDnD
- Guard both unsuccessful response and catch rollback paths to ensure rollback only applies if the request is still the latest reorder
- Prevent out-of-order responses during rapid drag-and-drop from overwriting newer column arrangements
- Leave non-status (phase) reordering behavior unchanged

Serialize status-order requests before sending the next full order.

statusReorderVersionRef only controls local rollback. It does not order updateStatusOrder calls. A second drag can send PUT /statuses/order while the first request is pending. The backend has no request version or serialization guard. If the newer request commits first, the older request can overwrite the persisted order afterward. The UI can still show the newer optimistic order until the next refresh.

Queue status-order requests at this boundary.

Reviewed 4afb8f4. Adding project scope fixes the original API problem, and queuing requests avoids out-of-order persistence. Two failure paths still corrupt the displayed group order. I reproduced the consecutive-failure case by executing the status reorder branch extracted from this exact commit with failed API responses. Please cover queued failures and project switching before merging.

[P2] Roll back to committed order rather than the preceding optimistic order. With saved ABC, drag to BAC, then to BCA while the first request is pending. If both queued requests fail, the first failure is skipped as stale, and this inverse move restores BAC even though the server is still ABC. The catch branch has the same issue. Reproduced by executing this commit's status branch: committed=ABC, UI after rollback=BAC. Reload authoritative groups on the latest failure, or maintain an acknowledged-order snapshot.

[P2] Invalidate reorder callbacks when changing projects. Resetting the queue does not cancel the pending promise, and statusReorderVersionRef is unchanged. If project A has a pending reorder, switch to B, and A fails before any reorder in B, its version still matches and its rollback dispatches A's groups into the shared reducer now displaying B. Advance/invalidate the version on project changes and guard callbacks by project identity; verify that delayed failures cannot replace the new project's groups.

Avoid inverse-splice rollbacks that can leave columns in the wrong order
when multiple optimistic reorders are queued. On the latest failed request,
reload the project's groups from the server instead.

Invalidate pending reorder callbacks when the project changes, and verify
project identity before callbacks trigger recovery. This prevents a delayed
failure from replacing the groups displayed for the newly selected project.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Update the project ref after commit.

React can discard a render after this line sets currentProjectIdRef.current. If a render for project B is discarded while project A remains displayed, a failed reorder for A fails the recovery guard. The optimistic order can remain visible after the request fails. Move the ref update to a commit-phase effect.

🧰 Tools
🪛 React Doctor (0.9.14)

[error] 99-99: This ref is mutated during render. React can replay or discard render work, so the mutation can leak from UI that never commits.

Move ref writes into an event handler or effect. Render must stay pure because React can replay or discard it. The predictable null-guarded lazy initialization pattern remains supported.

Prevent stale recovery fetches from replacing current board state.

The project and reorder checks run only before fetchEnhancedKanbanGroups is dispatched. Its fulfilled reducer later assigns the response to state.taskGroups without checking the current project, request, or reorder generation. A recovery fetch can therefore finish after a project switch or later optimistic reorder and replace the current board state. Apply a project and board-generation check when the result is reduced. Apply the equivalent check to the rejected handler.

Re-reviewed e7b4d3d. Reloading authoritative groups addresses consecutive reorder failures, and the project/version checks prevent dispatching recovery after the project has already changed. One asynchronous project-switch window remains: the recovery fetch itself can complete after switching. I executed the actual fetch fulfillment reducer with B completing before the earlier A recovery; it finishes with loadedProjectId=project-A and A groups. Static/source execution validation, without a live backend.

[P2] Guard the recovery fetch result as well as its dispatch. If a reorder fails while project A is active, this starts an A fetch. Switch to B while that fetch is pending, let B load, then let A finish. fetchEnhancedKanbanGroups.fulfilled unconditionally replaces shared taskGroups and loadedProjectId with its payload/arg, so A overwrites the board now displaying B. The project checks here ran before the await and cannot protect that result. Abort/ignore stale recovery requests at fulfillment, or use project/request identity in the reducer; cover switching after recovery starts.

Reject results from superseded fetches.

If a user switches A → B → A, the first A request can finish after the new A request. Both guards accept it because state.projectId is A again. In particular, an old rejection can set state.error after the new request succeeds, causing the board to display an error instead of its loaded groups. Track the latest group-fetch request ID in pending, and require both the project ID and request ID to match in fulfilled and rejected. The board renders an error when state.error is set.
