Hi, I'm Xanxi, an Amiga hobbyist developer from France.
I enjoy experimenting with classic Amiga hardware and writing software that extends what these machines can do, with a particular interest in multimedia, emulation, games, music and hardware acceleration.
A large part of my recent work explores the ARM processors inside the MNT ZZ9000 through my XACP firmware/application platform, but I also develop native AmigaOS software that does not require a ZZ9000.
XACP — eXtended ARM Coprocessor Protocol
A low-level platform for using the ARM Cortex-A9 cores of the ZZ9000 as coprocessors for classic Amigas.
Recent applications and projects include:
- ZZDarkForcesNEXT — The Force Engine / STAR WARS: Dark Forces running on ZZ9000 ARM Core1 with AmigaOS / Picasso96 / AHI integration
- ZZQuake — Quake running on ZZ9000 ARM Core1 with AmigaOS / Picasso96 host integration
- ZZDoom — Doom running on ZZ9000 ARM Core1
- ZZPicoDrive — Sega Mega Drive / Genesis and Master System emulation
- ZZRastan — standalone recreation of the Taito Rastan arcade hardware
- ZZSpeech — speech synthesis using CMU Flite on ARM Core1
- ZZMIDI — SoundFont MIDI synthesis and playback
- ZZMPEG — MPEG-1 / MP2 playback
- ZZBench — Amiga / ARM / memory bandwidth benchmark
- MP3 ARM decoding on ZZ9000
- Julia set and Mandelbrot fractals Core1 experiments
FPGA-based CRT scanline modes for the ZZ9000 scandoubler, with AmigaOS CLI and GUI control utilities.
A small native AmigaOS utility that turns the Amiga keyboard into a CAMD MIDI keyboard.
Runs even on a standard 68000 Amiga.
I'm currently interested in:
- classic Amiga 68k software
- ZZ9000 ARM coprocessing
- MIDI and audio
- arcade and console emulation
- hardware acceleration
- making old hardware do things it was never originally designed to do
Most of these projects are developed simply because they are things I wanted to use on my own Amigas.
Some projects are open source, while others are distributed as freeware. Please check the individual project repositories and documentation for licensing information.
