Start in your bedroom. Make your name.

A laptop, a modest studio, and a first track nobody has heard yet. Every career starts somewhere. Where yours goes depends on what you create, when you release it, and how you handle the work between the milestones.

Music Mastermind is a music industry career simulator about building an artist from the ground up. Record tracks, release albums, upgrade your setup, grow an audience, and balance your ambitions against your money, energy, and time.

Stay independent or take a label deal. Chase chart positions or invest in your craft. Your next move is yours.

Build your career, one release at a time

🎙️ Turn ideas into tracks
Choose a genre, name your song, and get recording. Your equipment, artist attributes, and genre experience shape its overall quality — and give every new release a different starting point.

💿 Build a catalog
Release individual tracks and bring your songs together into albums. Watch your catalog grow, follow its performance, and plan what comes next.

🎛️ Upgrade your bedroom setup into a serious studio
Improve five equipment categories: Computer & DAW, Mics & Interface, Monitors & Headphones, Instruments & Hardware Synths, and Acoustic Treatment. Each has four tiers to work toward. Better equipment helps, but upgrades have to fit your budget.

📈 Follow your music beyond release day
Tracks build momentum, peak, and lose steam over time. Follow their streams and earnings as the simulation progresses — and keep creating when yesterday’s hit starts slowing down.

🌍 Climb the Global and Country Top 50
Compete with 40 simulated rival artists, from small independent acts to established stars. Track your position and see how your releases stack up against the competition.

✕ Build an audience on social media
Post updates, promote your music, and grow your presence on X. Give listeners a reason to pay attention between releases.

⭐ Earn a reputation worth keeping
Strong releases help build your name. Weak results and long stretches of inactivity can undermine it. Reputation is part of your career, not just a badge beside your profile.

🏷️ Decide what a record deal is worth
As your career develops, label offers can open new opportunities. Compare revenue splits, contract lengths, signing bonuses, and perks before committing. Independence gives you control; a deal comes with obligations — and leaving early can cost you.

👤 Develop the artist behind the music
Grow nine attributes: Musicality, Rhythm, Songwriting, Sound Design, Mixing & Mastering, Arrangement, Performance, Trend Sense, and Charisma & Branding. Your progress isn’t limited to what you can buy.

⏱️ Set your own pace
Pause, play, or speed things up. Sleep to recover energy and skip ahead through studio work. Balance productive sessions with the downtime your artist needs.

💾 Keep your progress safe
Save manually or let automatic saves handle it. Autosaves are enabled by default every 15 minutes, with 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60-minute intervals available in Settings. Each autosave appears in the load menu with its date and time and is stored separately in saves/autosaves. Prefer manual control? Turn autosaves off at any time.

More than chasing one hit

A good track is only part of the job. Your studio affects what you can create, your releases shape your reputation, and your income funds your next steps. A label deal might help you grow — but its share of your earnings changes the calculation.

Build a catalog, learn from the flops, and decide what kind of artist you want to become.

v0.0.2 — actively in development

Music Mastermind is an early, playable project under active development. Recording, studio upgrades, streaming, charts, social media, reputation, and record labels are already available.

Version 0.0.2 adds configurable autosaves, clearer save-error messages, and fixes to several core systems. More is planned, including artist collaborations, additional social platforms, and expanded label perks. Features and balance may change as development continues.

Found a bug or something that doesn’t feel right? Report it on GitHub. Tell us what happened, what you expected, and how to reproduce it if you can.

Your feedback helps shape what comes next.
