My research interests are broad, and range from safety and injury prevention to socio-ecological systems and historical biogeography. I am a tinkerer by nature, am incredibly curious, and have always enjoyed taking things apart to see how they work. Champion of open science and reproducible research, and serve that community as an Academic Editor at PLOS ONE, a Review Editor at Frontiers in Mammal Science, and as a moderator at SocArXiv.
Academic background includes a BA in philosophy, BA in anthropology, MIS in GIS, and a PhD in anthropology. Walked away from a Master's in computational biology (all but thesis, or ABT), and working toward a second PhD in forestry. Am a Certified Ecologist (ESA), Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and avid outdoorsman.
Husband; proud father; generalist; human ecologist.
