Update actions/checkout to v7.0.1, pinned to the verified official commit 3d3c42e5aac5ba805825da76410c181273ba90b1. Merge current main into the existing PR branch to resolve the workflow conflict while preserving its history and current fixes.

The final diff changes one Action reference. Existing triggers, permissions, credential settings and project Node 20 workload are preserved. The Action itself uses Node 24 internally.

Fresh independent read-only branch review found no actionable defects; whitespace checks pass. The new GitHub Linux CI must pass on this exact head before merge. Maintainer review remains a separate gate for this Action major update.
