Summary

Replace the crowded per-release download chart with weekly download counts derived from the daily history snapshots. The README chart shows the last 6 ISO weeks so the x-axis stays readable.

Changes

  • Aggregate cumulative history into ISO-week deltas (scripts/release-stats-weekly.jq)
  • Emit release-downloads-weekly.svg (trailing 6 weeks); drop release-downloads-by-version.svg
  • Keep the full weekly series in release-downloads.md; platform bars unchanged
  • Update release-stats.yml publish paths and README embed URL
  • Add scripts/release-stats_test.sh for aggregation / window regressions

Test plan

  • bash scripts/release-stats_test.sh
  • bash scripts/release-stats.sh (regenerates weekly SVG from live history)
  • make test
  • make lint
  • After merge, confirm the next release-stats workflow run publishes the weekly SVG on release-stats-data

Checklist

  • Tests pass locally (scripts/release-stats_test.sh)
  • No coverage regression on touched code
  • Docs updated (README only; no mirrored docs/*.md change)
  • CLI ↔ Web UI parity maintained (docs/stats only)

Per-release x-axis labels became unreadable as the release count grew;
weekly deltas from the daily history snapshots stay scannable (last 6 weeks on the chart).

Monthly buckets are easier to scan than weekly; keep the trailing 6-month window on the README chart.
