Thanks for this! Am I right in thinking this is backwards-compatible, since overrideScope existed for a while? Kinda funny that it (at least for our purposes) does the same thing.

For the majority of users there should be no difference besides the function name change. Switching to overrideScope is due to switching to what nixpkgs calls a "spliced" package set, which will simplify future cross compilation work.
