DH.Window.UITool

DH.Window.UITool is a Windows UI automation scripting tool for inspecting desktop UI elements, building repeatable scripts, and capturing long scrolling content, including full web pages.

Version: 1.0.0.1

Korean version: README.ko.md

Overview

DH.Window.UITool helps you:

  • browse top-level windows and UI Automation elements
  • inspect element properties in a tree + property panel workflow
  • build .dhuiscript scripts in a tabbed editor
  • run automation commands such as FIND, UIAFIND, SET, WINDOW, WAIT, KEY, CAPTURE, LOG, and WHILE
  • capture long web pages or scrollable document areas into stitched screenshots

Main Features

  • Window picker for selecting a target window directly from the desktop
  • Tree view for grouped process/window inspection
  • Property panel with copy helpers for values and name=value
  • Script editor with autocomplete and command help
  • Built-in help documents for supported commands
  • Included sample scripts for browser capture with auto-scroll and stitched long-image output
  • Recent script history
  • Main window size/position restore on restart
  • Sample scripts copied to output for quick start

Quick Start

  1. Launch DH.Window.UITool.exe.
  2. Pick or browse a target window from the left tree.
  3. Open a sample script from DH.Window.UIToolSol/doc/samples or create a new .dhuiscript.
  4. Run the script and review the result in Run Log.

Supported Script Dialog Commands

The current UI interaction commands include:

  • SHOW_MSGBOX
  • SHOW_PICKWINDOW
  • SHOW_OPEN_FILE
  • SHOW_SAVE_FILE
  • SHOW_SELECT_FOLDER

Sample Scripts

Sample scripts are included under DH.Window.UIToolSol/doc/samples:

  • capture_web_example.dhuiscript
  • capture_web_with_prompt.dhuiscript
  • log_checkpoint_example.dhuiscript

The browser capture samples are ready to demonstrate a practical end-to-end workflow:

  1. prompt for the browser window
  2. prompt for the output folder
  3. move the page to the top
  4. auto-scroll while capturing frames
  5. save a stitched long screenshot

Build

Requirements:

  • Windows 10 or later
  • Visual Studio 2022
  • .NET Framework 4.6.2

Build with Visual Studio or MSBuild:

MSBuild.exe DH.Window.UIToolSol.sln -t:Build -p:Configuration=Debug -verbosity:minimal
MSBuild.exe DH.Window.UIToolSol.sln -t:Build -p:Configuration=Release -verbosity:minimal

Run the commands from DH.Window.UIToolSol/, or provide the solution path explicitly:

MSBuild.exe DH.Window.UIToolSol/DH.Window.UIToolSol.sln -t:Build -p:Configuration=Debug -verbosity:minimal
MSBuild.exe DH.Window.UIToolSol/DH.Window.UIToolSol.sln -t:Build -p:Configuration=Release -verbosity:minimal

Output binaries are generated under:

  • DH.Window.UIToolSol/output/Debug
  • DH.Window.UIToolSol/output/Release

Screenshots

Main workspace

Main workspace

Shows:

  • process-grouped window tree
  • UI element structure view
  • property inspection panel
  • script editor with command help

Script run example

Script run example

Shows:

  • script editing workflow
  • capture sample script
  • command execution flow in Run Log

This sample-driven workflow is one of the main release highlights: you can start from the bundled browser capture script and produce a full-page stitched image without writing custom logic first.

Editor detail

Shows:

  • script editing with command help and property inspection nearby
  • dialog-oriented automation workflow using SHOW_* commands
  • the authoring environment included in the first public release

Full-page browser capture result

Full-page browser capture result

Shows:

  • a stitched long screenshot generated from a scrolling web page
  • the practical output of the bundled browser capture sample script
  • how the tool can capture content beyond a single visible viewport

Notes

  • Command help markdown is shipped next to the executable so the app can open help without depending on the solution folder layout.
