System Requirements

• PHP: Version 8.1 or higher (with pdo, pdo_mysql, mbstring, openssl extensions enabled).
• Web Server: Apache 2.4+ (with mod_rewrite enabled) or Nginx.
• Database: MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.4+.
• Browser: Any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).

Installation & Setup

Step 1: Clone or Place Repository

Place the repository inside your web server document root (e.g. htdocs for XAMPP):

cd E:/XAMPP/htdocs/
git clone <repository_url> Mar-Project-Management-System

Step 2: Configure Environment

Copy the environment template:

cp .env.example .env

Open .env and configure your database and application URL:

Step 3: Initialize Database

Create the database and import the unified production schema:

CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS mar_db CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;

Import the production schema file located at database/schema.sql:

mysql -u root -p mar_db < database/schema.sql

Step 4: Verify Directory Permissions

Ensure the storage directory is writable by your web server:

chmod -R 775 storage/

Step 5: Access the Application

Open your browser and navigate to:

http://localhost/Mar-Project-Management-System/public/

Production Deployment & Hardening

Before deploying to live production servers:

1. Change Default Administrator Credentials:
   • Log in with default admin credentials.
   • Immediately update the password from your user profile or reset via password hash.
2. Set Environment to Production:

   APP_ENV=production
   APP_DEBUG=false

3. Web Server Document Root:
   • For optimal security, configure your virtual host's DocumentRoot to point directly to the /public directory:
