M4. Soundcheck Test (first-run guided check) #63

Description

Parent

#1. Decision record: docs/adr/0004-one-time-pro-unlock-and-show-safe-limits.md. Glossary: Pro, Trial, Free, Show-Safe Promise in CONTEXT.md.

What to build

A guided first-run check that proves the rig in under 10 minutes, the trust step research identified as the weakest lever: (1) Mixer Link up and Source names/colors shown, (2) 18 USB Channels seen with signal, (3) a 2-minute Take written to the Device (and the Drive once #12 lands), (4) the Show folder's Reaper project and report exist. Each step says what's wrong in plain words if it fails (no reply from Mixer, too few USB Channels, no Drive…).

Acceptance criteria

  • Step logic in a testable type driven by the existing fakes (fake device, fake X-Air mixer), with tests for each pass/fail path
  • UI walks the steps and ends on a result summary; can be rerun from settings
  • Never runs during a Take

Out of date in the text above: don't assume 18 USB Channels (#69 is closed; use what the Armed device sends, though RecordScreen still falls back to 18 in one place), and the Drive exists (#12 is closed), so the Soundcheck Test can check the Drive Copy too.

Eric, 2026-10-11: keep, before launch. When built: don't assume 18 USB Channels (use what the Armed input sends; a 1- or 2-channel input with a linked Mixer is fine, #311), and the Drive exists now, so step 3 checks the Drive Copy too when one is set.
