v0.17.4 — Nemotron 3 on the M3 Neural Engine

Nemotron 3 Diarization now runs on the Neural Engine on M3-class Macs.

On M3 (h15g), the monolithic Nemotron 3 bundles never compiled for the ANE: every .cpuAndNeuralEngine load paid a ~3 s failed ANECCompile() (InvalidMILProgram) before CoreML fell back to a mixed CPU/ANE plan (#951). Monolithic presets now load from monolithic/v2/ in FluidInference/nemotron-3-diarization-coreml: the same checkpoint and weights, re-exported with fp16 inputs/outputs and gather-free state packing so the ANE compile succeeds. Accuracy is unchanged (AMI 16-meeting DER identical on .all for all five presets, within ±0.06 on the ANE). The first launch after updating downloads the v2 bundle for the preset in use. Split presets and the .bin assets are unchanged, and the original monolithic/ bundles stay on the hub for older releases.

Also in this release: AppLogger.minimumLevel and AppLogger.mirrorsToConsole let apps keep debug output, including recognised words, off the console (#958).

v0.17.3 — Parakeet Ultra and Parakeet Redux

Two new batch ASR models from moondream, both drop-in derivatives of Parakeet TDT v3 (same 25 languages, tokenizer and API). Existing apps are unaffected: .v3 stays the default.

Parakeet Ultra — AsrModelVersion.ultra (FluidInference/parakeet-ultra-coreml). A post-trained v3 that is more accurate everywhere at the same speed. int8 encoder (595 MB), Neural Engine by default, iOS 17+ / macOS 14+. Recommended for new integrations.

Parakeet Redux — AsrModelVersion.redux (FluidInference/parakeet-redux-coreml). A ternary v3 with a 183 MB 2-bit encoder (~220 MB download vs ~480 MB for v3). iOS 18+ / macOS 15+ only; on older systems it throws and points to .ultra. Neural Engine by default; the first ANE load compiles for several minutes (cached after), encoderComputeUnits: .cpuAndGPU skips it.

v0.17.2 — Nemotron 3 output-backing fix

Fixes a crash in Nemotron3Diarizer on v0.17.0/v0.17.1: the first prediction could throw Output backing for feature named 'speaker_preds' is not compatible with the model's output feature description.

The Nemotron 3 bundles declare their float outputs as fp32, but the diarizer preallocated fp16 output backings. Some runtimes accept the mismatch; others reject it, including an M5 on macOS 27 with the default .all, and M3 Max with .cpuAndNeuralEngine (#951). Backings are now allocated in each output's declared type. If a runtime still rejects them, the diarizer logs a warning and continues without them. Output is unchanged. No API changes.

Separately, the Nemotron 3 ANE compile still fails on M3 (ANECCompile() → InvalidMILProgram); .cpuAndNeuralEngine now runs there via CoreML's fallback. That investigation continues in #951.
