eventually, the plan is to implement: plate solving, geolocation & time resolution in C11 (using stb_image)
I was out watching a meteor shower, with little success, and later I tuned into some livestreams with better coverage. One was actually nearby, and I wanted to know what direction it was facing... and so I looked up how you'd do that, realised you can figure out spatially what stars you're looking at then work back to time from location and vice versa, and thought: "What is the most painful way I can implement these techniques"... and so I decided to use C. I've done too many projects in Python and, though I've been enjoying Julia more recently, Julia is really just better Python. I'm sure a Julia implementation of this project will ensue and take about a tenth as long!
Anyhow, I am not a C developer, I don't know intricate C methodologies and syntax, mostly just what I've gleaned from (shudders) Java, in industry. I do, however, aspire to understand and write performant code, so failing the segfaults that I will tacitly fix before embarrassing myself and pushing, this should be a more performance oriented, barebones project
NB: I am not a C developer nor am I an astronomer, I just have an interest that crosses mathematics, physics, and computer science, and building something is better than building nothing
