What this is

The first-run environment described in the session task — a Dev Container using the CI-matched Agda toolchain and running just check, and ./scripts/check.sh using local tools or the checked-in Guix environment — plus the boundary/history note update for the secret-types decision.

⚠️ The working-tree changes described in the task were not present in this checkout (clean tree at e7a78d8, no such files on main, in the 36 fetched PR heads, or in hyperpolymath/secret-types). This branch therefore reconstructs the environment to the description rather than preserving it. Review it as a reconstruction.

Contents

  • scripts/check.sh — local Agda when on PATH, else guix shell -D -f build/guix.scm -- bash scripts/check.sh; clear failure with install guidance otherwise.
  • .devcontainer/ — Containerfile pinned to the same Debian 13 base digest as .github/workflows/agda.yml, with agda-bin=2.6.4.3-1+b2; postCreateCommand runs just check.
  • just check now routes through scripts/check.sh; CI's core job runs the same entry point after asserting Agda version 2.6.4.3.
  • build/guix.scm gains ripgrep and findutils (required by the rejection-manifest check and the recursive module scan).
  • README, docs index, docs/ci-safety.adoc, STATE.a2ml, META.a2ml (ADR-007), 0-AI-MANIFEST.a2ml, CHANGELOG updated.
  • docs/secret-types.adoc — records the 2026-10-04 decision that hyperpolymath/secret-types is the standalone home (D153/D154); the 2026-09-27 placement section is marked superseded; no Secret API or IFC implementation is added.

Verification

  • Positive/expected-rejection gates: run by CI on this PR through scripts/check.sh in the pinned Debian 13 container (Agda 2.6.4.3).
  • Locally in this sandbox: bash -n + ShellCheck clean; devcontainer.json parses; agda.yml YAML parses; scripts/check.sh branch logic exercised with stub toolchains (local-Agda path, Guix fallback path with the exact command line, and the no-toolchain failure path).
  • Not run here (recorded, not claimed): the container image build (no container runtime and container registries are unreachable from this sandbox) and any Agda run outside CI (Debian/Haskell mirrors unreachable; no Agda available). The optional just check-canonical gate is unchanged and not part of first run.

First-run environment (CI-matched):
* scripts/check.sh — local Agda when on PATH, otherwise the checked-in
Guix environment (build/guix.scm); CI invokes this same entry point.
* .devcontainer/ — Debian 13 pinned to the CI base image digest with
  agda-bin=2.6.4.3-1+b2; postCreateCommand runs `just check`.
* `just check` routes through scripts/check.sh; build/guix.scm gains
ripgrep and findutils (required by the rejection-manifest check).
* README, docs index, docs/ci-safety.adoc and the machine-readable
state/manifest/META updated to describe the environment.

Boundary record:
* Per the owner decision of 2026-10-04, hyperpolymath/secret-types is the
standalone home for secret types (D153/D154). docs/secret-types.adoc
records the decision and marks the 2026-09-27 placement section
superseded; no Secret API or IFC implementation is added here, and
  epistemic-types#29 stays closed.

Navigate logical layers of code changes, visualize relationships, and explore their blast radius.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a ready-to-use development container with the Agda toolchain and supporting tools preinstalled.
    • just check now works with local Agda or falls back to the checked-in Guix environment.
  • Documentation

    • Updated setup and checking guidance for local development, the container and CI.
    • Clarified that secret types and information-flow work are documented as a boundary here, with ongoing work in a standalone project.
  • Maintenance

    • Aligned the core CI proof checks with the shared check command.

Walkthrough

The change adds a shared proof-check script, a pinned development container and related setup documentation. It also records that secret-types and information-flow work belong in a standalone repository and are not implemented here.

Changes

Proof checking and development environment

Layer / File(s) Summary
Proof-check entry point and toolchain selection
scripts/check.sh, Justfile, .github/workflows/agda.yml, build/guix.scm, .machine_readable/descriptiles/*, 0-AI-MANIFEST.a2ml, CHANGELOG.adoc
just check and the core CI job now invoke scripts/check.sh. The script runs both checks with local Agda when available; otherwise it uses Guix when available, or exits with toolchain guidance. Guix inputs now include findutils and ripgrep.
Pinned development container
.devcontainer/*, README.adoc, docs/ci-safety.adoc
The development container uses a digest-pinned Debian 13 image and installs Agda 2.6.4.3. Its post-create command runs just check. The documentation describes setup, toolchain selection and CI parity.

Secret-types boundary

Layer / File(s) Summary
Standalone secret-types decision and repository boundary
README.adoc, docs/README.adoc, docs/secret-types.adoc, .machine_readable/descriptiles/*, 0-AI-MANIFEST.a2ml, CHANGELOG.adoc
The documentation and metadata identify hyperpolymath/secret-types as the standalone home for secret-types work. They state that this repository adds no Secret API or information-flow implementation and record the related decisions and issue status.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes

Change: Other

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 60a7a

The proof-check setup is mergeable with a small documentation correction: align issue #32’s open-state guidance with the standalone-repository transfer.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 60a7a

The shared checker preserves the existing proof and rejection controls, and CI retains its pinned toolchain and limited repository permissions. No introduced security vulnerability was established. Local and Guix checks remain dependent on the caller’s environment, and their runtime behavior was not fully verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The demonstrated execution scope is the developer workspace or CI job, including whatever resources the invoking environment makes available. The PR adds automatic workspace checks on container creation, but the inspected configuration does not introduce a tenant-facing service, IAM grant, secret injection, or privileged host mount.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — A caller controlling PATH or the inherited Guix guard can influence tool selection, but the guard does not skip either gate or convey authenticated identity. The base gates already executed Agda from PATH, so this comparison does not establish a new authority escalation or proof-control bypass. Guix environment purity remains unverified.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — CI continues to execute repository code with contents-read permission, disabled checkout credential persistence, a digest-pinned container, and an exact Agda version assertion. The workflow change only substitutes the shared checker for the previous two gate commands; it does not change those authority controls.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — The ordered wrapper preserves failure containment for ordinary command failures and requires both gates to complete. Existing ignore-interface flags address reliance on cached proofs, but repository evidence does not establish Agda’s cache-writing, locking, or interrupted concurrent-run behavior. Those flags and invocations are unchanged from the base.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — If local check results become release or security-approval evidence, require the pinned CI or container toolchain rather than treating the printed version or Guix recursion guard as toolchain attestation. This is a future control proposal, not an observed vulnerability.

Align issue #32’s open-state condition with the transfer.

The placement guidance is clearly marked as superseded. However, this earlier instruction still ties issue #32’s open state to the owner accepting or revising the baseline and placement. The current boundary says the issue remains the record until the transfer lands. Use that condition instead.

Suggested fix
-implementation. Keep issue #32 open until the owner accepts or revises the
-baseline and placement decision.

#38)

## What this is

The **cross-reference review of the Secret Types transition** requested
in the
session task: compare the migration note of `hyperpolymath/secret-types`
(PR #4,
commit `d1122d8`, merged 2026-10-04) with this repository's current docs
and
tracked work, record accurate cross-references, and state what has
moved, what
remains owned here, and where follow-up belongs.

**Refs #32. It does not close, transfer, or duplicate #32.** Issue #32
stays in
this repository and stays open as the origin/decision record. `#29` is
untouched
and stays closed. Nothing is moved or deleted; superseded text is
marked, not
rewritten.

## Findings recorded

- **#32 is not obsolete and was not transferred.** The note here said
the issue
"is obsolete as titled" and referred to "the transferred #32". No
transfer
occurred — secret-types PR #4 documents that issue writes returned `403`
— and
nothing in the 2026-10-04 placement decision transfers the *issue*. The
work
  moved; the issue stays.
- **Provenance verified.** The standalone spec's `583017cfd5fa…` blob
resolves
to `583017cfd5fab189ca17128d01c7eddb494d8476` (19,326 bytes) — this
repo's
`docs/secret-types.adoc` at PR #33 (`d97ecaab`), not the PR #31 draft
(`cf0a152e…`, 9,436 bytes) and not the PR #37 boundary revision.
- **Closure is not due.** The standalone spec's "Review checklist before
implementation" states it "has not yet been completed item by item", and
PR #37 carries an unresolved `CHANGES_REQUESTED` finding about the #32
open-state wording. The tracking update is therefore **prepared but not
  posted**, in `docs/secret-types-transition-review-2026-10-05.adoc`.
- **Downstream trackers are stale and owned elsewhere.**
`nextgen-typing`
`docs/TYPE-CONNECTIONS.adoc` has no secret-types row (checked
2026-10-05);
`valence-shell` `docs/THEORY-FEED.adoc` still records the pre-2026-10-04
"mint it or fold it into epistemic-types#32" owner call and grades the
feed
`?`/`?`; Anytype#15 remains open. Recorded here, not edited there.
- The four "ready-to-post" texts named in secret-types PR #4 were never
persisted anywhere; that process gap is recorded.

## Changes

- `docs/secret-types.adoc` — corrected #32 status; new "Cross-reference
review —
2026-10-05" section; retained checklist marked with a note (item 5
decided:
  standalone); related-documentation links.
- `docs/secret-types-transition-review-2026-10-05.adoc` — full review
record,
evidence table, ownership split, and the exact proposed #32 comment
  (prepared, **not** posted).
- `STATE.a2ml`, `META.a2ml` (ADR-007), `0-AI-MANIFEST.a2ml` — removed
the
  "pending transfer of #32" wording.
- `README.adoc`, `docs/README.adoc`, `CHANGELOG.adoc` — pointers and
entry.

## Verification

- Docs-only: no Agda source touched; the CI proof gate (Agda 2.6.4.3,
`scripts/check.sh`) still runs on this PR.
- Provenance, issue states, PR states, and the downstream files were
checked
against the GitHub API on 2026-10-05; no local Agda/asciidoctor in the
sandbox,
so rendering and proofs are left to CI (not claimed here).
- The commit is unsigned (`Require-Signed-Commits` covers the default
branch);
land it with the repo's GitHub **squash** merge, as with PR #37.
