feat(timestamps): add content timestamps handling for files and folders - #514
Added shared helpers under src/shared/content-timestamps/ to read local mtime / birthtime (or ctime fallback) and map them to optional API fields (modificationTime, creationTime).
Extracted resolveInternxtMountPath() into src/shared/virtual-drive/ and reused it from antivirus path checks (replacing duplicated mount-resolution logic).
Sync engine — files: Send modificationTime and creationTime on file create (from the uploaded content path when stat succeeds); send modificationTime on content replace (PUT /files/{uuid}). Pending utimens values still override modificationTime on create when present.
Sync engine — folders: Folder create API supports optional timestamps via persistFolderWithRetry / HttpRemoteFileSystem; FUSE FolderCreator does not send local timestamps (the virtual path does not exist on disk at mkdir time). Backups pass timestamps through SimpleFolderCreator from the local tree.
Backups: Extended LocalFile / LocalFolder and traversal with creationTime; backup create/update flows send timestamps to the backend for files and folders.
Infrastructure: Updated create-folder, override-file, SDK/HTTP remote file systems, and related tests/mocks.
Why
The backend accepts optional content timestamps on create and replace, but the desktop client was not consistently sending them. Uploads and backup operations should reflect the user’s local file metadata where a real path exists. For sync-engine folder creation over FUSE, stat-on-mount is not valid because mkdir is handled remotely before any directory exists under the mount; server defaults apply there, while backups still propagate times from scanned local folders.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Preserved local file and folder creation and modification times when backing up or uploading content, where supported.
Updated files in the virtual drive now retain the source file’s modification time.
The change adds modification and creation timestamp handling across backup and virtual-drive file and folder persistence. It also extracts shared virtual-drive mount-path resolution for the antivirus path check and updates the core package archive dependency.
Changes: Content timestamp propagation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Timestamp derivation and request fields src/shared/content-timestamps/*
New helpers derive timestamps from filesystem stats, read them from paths, and convert available values to ISO-formatted request fields. Tests cover timestamp selection, fallback behavior, path reads, and serialization.
Local backup timestamp capture src/context/local/localFile/domain/LocalFile.ts, src/context/local/localFolder/domain/LocalFolder.ts, src/context/local/localTree/domain/LocalTree.ts, src/backend/features/backup/local-tree/*
Local file and folder models now store creation times. Backup tree construction derives modification and creation times from filesystem stats.
Backup file and folder operations pass available local timestamps to file creation, file override, and folder creation requests. Tests check the file timestamp arguments.
Temporal file uploads read content timestamps and pass them to file creation or override. Persistence requests include available timestamp fields, and successful overrides update the file’s modification time when supplied.
Folder creation accepts optional timestamps and forwards them through retry and remote persistence to the folder creation request. The mock and related tests accept the timestamp argument.
Shared mount-path resolution
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Mount-path resolver and antivirus integration src/shared/virtual-drive/resolve-internxt-mount-path*, src/apps/main/antivirus/utils/isInternxtDrivePath.ts
A shared resolver handles configured and default virtual-drive roots. The antivirus path check now uses it. Tests cover the resolver’s path outputs.
Core dependency update
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Core package archive package.json
The @internxt/drive-desktop-core dependency now points to the local 1.7.1 archive instead of the 1.6.0 archive.
Dependency installation can fail on a clean checkout because the pinned core submodule produces a different archive version than the lockfile expects. Newly created files can also record a backdated content time as their row-update time. Fix both before merging.

Update the folder-call assertion for the fifth argument.
The successful-backup test can create added folders because the local and remote fixtures generate folder names independently. simpleFolderCreator.run now receives a timestamp object as its fifth argument, but the assertion expects four arguments. Vitest compares the complete call arguments, so the test fails when this path runs.

The pinned submodule declares version 1.6.0, so CI packs the wrong archive. On a clean checkout, root npm ci can fail because the required 1.7.1 archive is absent. Update the submodule and regenerate the lockfile from its archive.

If the server returns an old content modification time, FileCreator also stores it as updatedAt. This violates the File.updatedAt row-change contract. Pass the server’s separate updatedAt through PersistedFileData and use it when creating the local file.
