This is a simple script which will poll a url every 60 seconds and tell you if the site is up or down. To run this on the command line you use one of two commands
# > ruby status.rb "http://www.domain.com/"
# > ./status.rb "http://www.domain.com/"
If this fails to run on your machine please make sure the shebang is properly set for your environment.
