My learned trade is field and landscape archaeology. But currently, I am a researcher at the Huygens Institute (KNAW), working within the topics of colonial history, archives, citizen science and visual science communication in the for of web and interface development.
Outside the institute I run archaeoINK, a studio for scientific illustration, publication design, and digital tools for the humanities.
I co-host Things We Threw Away, a podcast on object biography and provenance, together with Stefanie Ulrich. Within that environment, I am trying to define the method of archaeology journaling, the practice of drawing and reflecting on objects in the tradition of nature journaling.
Currently I am learning more about ontologies and controlled vocabularies, CIDOC CRM, drawing techniques, nature and web development, 3D documentation and modelling, balcony plants, and vegan recipes.
Ask me anything about landscape archaeology, geophysical prospection, image-based modelling, 3D modelling on the iPad, design systems for cultural heritage, or archaeology journaling.
