Summary

Adds a project Claude Code skill at .claude/skills/run-autonomous-github-agent/ for launching and driving the agent locally.

  • SKILL.md — documented, locally-verified commands covering the CLI, MCP stdio, risk scorer, .github/scripts, overseer, autopilot, and pytest.
  • driver.sh — owns a venv outside the repo, runs from a clean cwd (the placeholder .env breaks pydantic-settings, which forbids extra keys), and sets env (gh auth token, dummy LLM key).
  • mcp_client.py — minimal MCP stdio client (mcp<2).

No runtime code, workflows, config/ or core/ touched — docs/tooling only.

Test plan

  • bash .claude/skills/run-autonomous-github-agent/driver.sh runs on a clean checkout
  • CI green

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

driver.sh owns venv (outside repo), clean cwd (placeholder .env breaks
pydantic-settings), and env (gh token, dummy LLM key). Covers CLI, MCP
stdio (mcp_client.py, mcp<2), risk scorer, .github/scripts, overseer,
autopilot, and pytest. All documented commands verified locally.

  • Total Functions Analyzed: 871
  • Average Complexity: 3.63
  • High Complexity Functions: 31
  • Low Maintainability Files: 61

⚠️ High Complexity Functions

These functions exceed the complexity threshold and should be refactored:

File Function Complexity Line
core/risk_scorer.py score_pull_request 35 141
autopilot/autopilot.py generate_summary 24 195
.github/scripts/inline_pr_commenter.py _is_likely_safe_b608 19 252
.github/scripts/threshold_monitor.py _is_likely_safe_b608 19 169
autopilot/staleness_engine.py process_stale_prs 16 281

.github/scripts/prometheus_exporter.py collect_metrics 14 99
.github/scripts/self_healing_system.py analyze_failure_patterns 14 256

... and 21 more

Recommendations:

  • Break down large functions into smaller, focused units
  • Extract complex conditional logic into separate functions
  • Use early returns to reduce nesting

🔧 Low Maintainability Files

🤖 DRC Agent Analysis

Recommendation: 🟠 P1 IMPORTANT

Summary: Solution 2 (Skill + Validation Harness) as recommended by REALIST, with registry.json stub from Solution 3 as a forward-compatibility hook

Next steps:

  1. Step 1: Create .claude/skills/run-autonomous-github-agent/ directory and author SKILL.md with all CLI entrypoints, copy-paste-verified example commands, and --self-test contract documentation
  2. Step 2: Write driver.sh with isolated venv at ~/.venvs/autonomous-github-agent, GH_TOKEN export via gh auth token, --dry-run flag, and --self-test mode asserting venv, GH_TOKEN non-empty, Python 3.10+, and each CLI entrypoint --help exits 0
  3. Step 3: Implement mcp_client.py as minimal MCP stdio client pinned to mcp>=1.0,<2 with list-tools and call-tool JSON-RPC methods only
  4. Step 4: Create tests/skills/test_run_autonomous_github_agent.py with pytest fixture setting GH_TOKEN=dummy and ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=dummy, invoking driver.sh --self-test via subprocess, asserting exit 0 and PASS lines in stdout
  5. Step 5: Add inline pip install for mcp<2 in driver.sh so venv is self-provisioning on first run

Strategic fit: Consulting: high · Product: medium · Tech debt: reduces

🟡 Changes recommended

MCP commands depend on a missing server, and the report wrappers silently override explicit --output=path destinations.
