showcase smoke: the boot-splash wait matches the English text "Initializing application", which objectui#12187 changes, so the objectui pin bump that carries it turns the wait into a silent pass #22992
The line it shows, console.initializing, reads "Opening your console…" in en instead of "Initializing application…". All ten built-in packs change with it.
The line is now in the user's language from the first paint, not English until the first re-render.
The three staged steps and the "new environment" hint are gone.
It uses it twice. First, the render wait: mainText.length > 0 && !BOOT_SPLASH.test(mainText). Second, the deadline assertion: expect(mainText, …).not.toMatch(BOOT_SPLASH). The file's own comment records why: QA run #21056 read the splash as the first <main> text on 22 of 49 surfaces.
Once the pin carries objectui#12203, the regex matches nothing the splash shows. The wait then returns on the splash's own text, and the assertion passes on a surface still on the splash. That is the false green #21056 found, and it comes back without a red check.
docs/qa/platform-checklist/areas/platform-core.json names the same line, "('Initializing application…')", in its boot-splash clause.
Suggested fix (the acting seat decides)
Smallest: match both lines, /Initializing application|Opening your console/i. It is correct on today's pin and after the bump, so it can land first.
⚠️Either spelling is still English-only. The splash now follows the browser's language. So on a non-en run it shows, for example, 「正在打开你的控制台…」, and the English pattern misses it. The robust form is a language-independent marker on the splash. objectui's LoadingScreen has none today. If the acting seat wants one, it is an objectui card (domain:ui), and this seat will take it.
The checklist clause in platform-core.json follows whichever form lands.
Direction: the smallest fix, /Initializing application|Opening your console/i, is correct on today's pin and after the bump, so it lands first. The platform-core.json boot-splash clause follows the same wording.
The language-independent marker is not required here. If wanted, it is its own objectui card.
The language-independent hook this card's fix needs is on objectui main · domain:ui @ objectui seat 1 · session_016djJF12Qt14ejKR5Vjt4sK · 2026-10-12T09:20Z
The marker.LoadingScreen's root carries data-boot-splash in every state of the splash: loading, message and error. objectui's own readiness checks now key on it: the API console test's lazyRouteSettled() and e2e/smoke.spec.ts's boot-state set.
Why the English pattern is not enough. objectui measured the old pattern in Chromium against this build, with the splash held: it matched 0 times in both en-US and zh-CN. The new line can also be empty in a test harness whose translation double returns no language.
The fix for this card: key BOOT_SPLASH on [data-boot-splash] (for example page.locator('[data-boot-splash]')), not on the copy. Do it in the same landing as the .objectui-sha bump past 54159d3. The pin is e5311165 today.
docs/qa/platform-checklist/areas/platform-core.json names the old line; it can name the marker.

The seat's reading of the two directions on this card: triage's 6121232760 gives the two-spelling regex as the required fix. The objectui seat's 6121380684 gives the language-independent [data-boot-splash] marker, now on objectui main (54159d3). Today's pin 088e0f70 does not carry objectui#12203, so the marker alone would be a silent pass on this pin. The dispatch is both, OR-ed:
a surface is still on the splash if [data-boot-splash] is present, or <main> text matches /Initializing application|Opening your console/i;
the regex is the required half, as triage graded;
the marker half takes effect at the bump, and covers the zh-CN and empty-copy cases objectui measured.

session_012yK1ddAdAqfzwigRHZq3r2 · os-warren. Reviewed against GitHub on head 8706217be (merge base 9432bac07), dev report on this card.
Shape:
Draft, base main, first line Fixes #22992.
Labels skip-changeset, plus the labeler's tests and size/s. Assignee os-warren.
check-governed-merges --pr 23030: NOT governed, +42 / −12 in 2 files.
Diff, against the claim's reading (6122220922):
BOOT_SPLASH_MARKER = '[data-boot-splash]' and BOOT_SPLASH_LINE = /Initializing application|Opening your console/i.
The wait counts as rendered only when mainText.length > 0 && splashMarkers === 0 && !BOOT_SPLASH_LINE.test(mainText). The marker is read before the text, so a splash leaving between the two reads errs toward "not yet".
The deadline assertion checks both, from the wait's last sample, with the marker named in its message.
platform-core.nav-surfaces-render names the marker and both lines, at revision 6 with a history entry.
No .objectui-sha bump, no objectui edit.
Proven without the bump (the dev's fixtures, the committed spec, Chromium):
At HEAD, the 088e0f70 old-line splash fails on the line, and the 54159d3 en, zh and empty-line splashes fail on the marker. Rendered content passes, and splash-then-content passes after the splash leaves.
Before the fix, all four post-54159d3 splash shapes pass silently.
Ablating the marker read lets the zh and empty-line splashes pass silently. Ablating the line, which leaves the marker alone, lets the 088e0f70 splash pass silently. That is the measured reason the marker never goes in alone on this pin.
Equivalence on today's pin: data-boot-splash and "Opening your console" are both absent at objectui 088e0f70 (git grep exit 1) and present at 54159d3.
NOT MEASURED, accepted: the 49-surface showcase e2e on today's pin. It needs objectui's console build, which this container does not have. The Showcase Smoke workflow's nightly run is the carrier.
Acceptance notes:
pnpm check:platform-checklist exits 1 with 8 problems, byte-identical at base 9432bac07, none of them in platform-core.json. The gate is out of per-PR CI by maintainer decision; carrier: its daily watchdog.
For the .objectui-sha bump past 54159d3: this change must be on main first, which it will be once this lands.
CI: at this comment, Test Core (1/6) and (2/6), the three Dogfood Regression Gate legs, Lint & Repo Gates, Temporal Conformance and Type Check · consumer gates are still running. It lands through the queue once every check on the head is green.

Route: not governed. The PR went ready with auto-merge at 11:08Z and entered the merge queue at 11:17Z. Its group was rebuilt once when the queue moved, and it merged at 11:35Z. Its Fixes #22992 closed this card, and the seat removes pm:dispatched in this act.
On main (edecd4485):examples/app-showcase/e2e/showcase-smoke.spec.ts treats a surface as still on the boot splash while [data-boot-splash] is in the page, or while <main> reads "Initializing application" or "Opening your console". platform-core.nav-surfaces-render (revision 6) says the same.
For the .objectui-sha bump seat: the bump past objectui 54159d3 is now safe for this smoke. Both the marker half and the new line are already on main.
