fix(analog): scope server calls to their tab and keep the source scan - #467
Server calls mixed across tabs AnalogCall had no pageId, and the server kept one global list, so the Server tab and analog-list-server-calls showed every tab's calls together. This broke the repo's pageId rule. A call is now tagged with its tab from the best source available:
Page header: the dev-only /http interceptor (new http-analog-tag.ts) sends x-pangular-page on same-origin requests only, so there's no CORS preflight. It starts once an Analog page has reported, and the recorded call keeps the app's original headers.
SSR render id:analogMiddleware gives each render an id, hands it to the page in Server-Timing: pangular-analog, and runs the render under it (runInAnalogRender). The page reports it as renderId, and bindRenderCalls ties the render's calls to that page. Unknown ids are ignored, and the first page to claim a render keeps it.
Referer: used only when exactly one live Analog page shows that path, and never for document requests.
A page that expires or is forgotten takes its calls with it. analog-list-server-calls takes page. The Server view filters to the panel's tab, with an All tabs (including untagged) switch.
Source scan in the push path
Every push-analog re-ran scanAnalog synchronously once its 2-second cache expired. New rpc/analog-scan-cache.ts keeps the scan until a file changes:
It uses the Vite watcher when there is one, and otherwise fs.watch on the project. If a watch can't start, it falls back to the old 2-second check.
Pushes take the last scan at once, and the rescan runs after them.
analog.md gains a "Which tab a call belongs to" section, and agents/tools.md documents page. extension/ui is rebuilt on current main. Changelog lines are under ## 1.0.0.
pnpm test:devtools: locally, 14 unrelated tests hit 5-second timeouts on an overloaded machine (load around 30 on 4 cores), and none were Analog tests. CI is the check here.
Notes for reviewers
These calls stay untagged:
SSR load() fetches through $fetch, which were never logged;
Server-call history now associates calls with tabs when possible and defaults to showing calls for the selected tab. Use All tabs (including untagged) to view calls across tabs, or filter results by page.
Call history is retained across tabs, with a 200-call limit across the full history.
Bug Fixes
Duplicate-load and refetched-function warnings reflect the calls currently shown.
Analog source information refreshes after changes, and calls for departed tabs are cleaned up.
Documentation
Updated Analog inspector and tool guides with tab filtering, call attribution, and history details.
The Analog server call log was one global list, so the Server tab and
analog-list-server-calls mixed the calls of every open tab. Tag each
call with its tab's pageId when the dev server can tell: the
x-pangular-page header that withPangular() now sends on same-origin
requests in dev builds, the page render's id (sent in Server-Timing,
forwarded on the render's own /_analog requests and reported back by
the page), or a Referer only one open tab matches. Tagged calls leave
with their page, on pagehide or after the page TTL. The Server tab
shows the panel's tab by default with an "All tabs (including
untagged)" switch, and analog-list-server-calls takes `page`.
Each Analog report also ran a synchronous source scan once the 2
second cache had run out. Keep the scan until a file changes (the Vite
watcher, or fs.watch outside Vite), and let a push take the last scan
while the rescan runs on a later tick and checks the open pages again.
Refs #369
The change adds page and render attribution for Analog server calls, tab-scoped filtering in the inspector and server-call tool, and source-scan refresh based on file changes.
Adds page and render identifiers to runtime reports and eligible HTTP requests. Tests cover header and collector behavior.
Server render and call attribution packages/devtools/src/analog-call-pages.ts, packages/devtools/src/analog-server-log.ts, packages/devtools/src/__tests__/analog-call-pages.test.ts
The middleware creates render IDs and adds them to response timing metadata. Calls gain page and render tags through headers, render associations, or a uniquely matching Referer. Render mappings have count and age limits.
Adds Vite and filesystem scan refresh, resolves retained reports against refreshed scans, and removes calls and render associations for departed pages. Tests cover attribution lifecycle and scan refresh.
Adds page selection to the server-call tool and scopes inspector counts, filters, empty states, and diagnostics to the selected tab. Documentation describes the all-tabs option and page argument. Extension assets use the updated bundle path.

Make clear that Clear calls empties every tab's calls.
The Server view now shows only the panel tab's calls by default. The Clear calls button still calls analog-clear-calls, and that RPC runs clearCalls() for the whole dev server. A user who clears the list for their own tab also removes the calls of all other tabs, including untagged calls. The button text and the docs table do not say this.
Use a label or hint that names the effect while the view is scoped. For example, use "Clear calls of all tabs". As an alternative, add a page-scoped clear RPC that uses dropCalls.

A watcher error left the cache trusting a dead fs.watch, a rescan run by
get() skipped the onRefresh listeners so open pages kept the old scan,
and server.watch: null made the cache wait on a Vite watcher that never
fires. Each now rescans or watches again as it should.
