refactor(ui): split the network page into section components - #495
app/src/pages/network-inspector.ts drops from 3,142 lines to a 349-line shell. The rest moves into app/src/pages/network/. This is a pure move: RPC calls, data shapes, DOM, labels, ARIA and keyboard behaviour stay the same.
How it is split
Each section is a component that attaches to the page's existing <section> element (<section appSsrRequests …>), the same pattern as th[appSortHeader], so the DOM tree does not change. The sections are SSR requests, call timeline, fault rules, SSR overrides, hydration stats and transfer payload. The response preview attaches to its div the same way.
State lives in three services the page provides: NetworkState, RuleState and OverrideState. Types and pure helpers are in http-model.ts.
Effects that need a component (selection memory, Follow newest, the virtual window) stay in the page or the timeline section.
The page keeps the members that app.ts and the tests use, as thin delegates.
Shared styles become SCSS mixin groups in app/src/styles/_network.scss, following the _analog.scss example.
lint-baseline.json drops the max-lines entry for the page.
page-conventions.test.ts now scans app/src/pages recursively, so pages split into folders are still checked, and it expects the roving list in the two new sections.

Before/after Playwright screenshots of every section, in dark and light themes at 1280px and 360px, match. The only difference found was a lost .method style in the response preview, fixed in this PR. The panel bundle grows by about 62 KB (+3.2%) because each section carries its own copy of the shared style groups.
The Network page was one 3,140 line component holding every section,
its state and its styles. Split it into one component per section under
`app/src/pages/network/` (SSR requests, HTTP timeline, response preview,
fault rules, SSR overrides, hydration, TransferState payload), three
page-scoped state services (`NetworkState`, `RuleState`,
`OverrideState`), the data types and pure helpers in `http-model.ts`,
and the shared section styles in `styles/_network.scss`.
The sections are attribute components on the page's own `<section>`
elements, so the DOM, labels, ARIA and keyboard behaviour stay the same,
and the page keeps the members its tests read. The package test that
renders the page in JIT stubs the dropdown in every section that has one
and adds the signal input metadata for the response preview.
Fixes#369
The method token moved with the table styles, which the response preview does not include, so the preview showed GET in the body font. Move the rule to the status group that every section showing a method includes.
The network page now lives in pages/network/, so the conventions spec
scans the pages folder recursively and expects the roving list in the
call timeline and the SSR requests sections.
The Network page is split into shared HTTP and SSR models, state services, and components for calls, fault rules, SSR requests and overrides, hydration statistics, and TransferState payloads. The change also updates page checks, component test setup, shared styles, development guidance, the lint baseline, and extension UI asset references.

Summary
HTTP data contracts and shared state app/src/pages/network/http-model.ts, app/src/pages/network/network-state.ts
Shared types and helpers describe HTTP calls and rules, SSR requests and overrides, hydration, and payloads. NetworkState loads and derives page, request, call, and payload data, and handles timeline actions, preview state, clipboard actions, and refetches.
HTTP timeline and fault-rule controls app/src/pages/network/rule-state.ts, app/src/pages/network/call-timeline.ts, app/src/pages/network/fault-rules.ts, app/src/pages/network/response-preview.ts, app/src/styles/_network.scss
RuleState validates and saves rules. CallTimeline displays filtered calls and selected-call previews. FaultRules provides rule controls, and ResponsePreview displays call details and copy or mock actions. Shared Sass mixins support the Network components.
SSR, override, and payload panels app/src/pages/network/override-state.ts, app/src/pages/network/ssr-overrides.ts, app/src/pages/network/ssr-requests.ts, app/src/pages/network/transfer-payload.ts, app/src/pages/network/hydration-stats.ts
OverrideState validates and saves overrides. The components display SSR requests and overrides, hydration statistics, and TransferState payloads, with editing and refetch actions.
Page conventions and integration checks app/src/__tests__/page-conventions.test.ts, packages/devtools/src/__tests__/network-inspector.test.ts, lint-baseline.json, apps/docs/src/content/contributing/development.md, extension/ui/...
Page convention checks scan nested TypeScript files and check the extracted sections. Component test setup adds imports and select stubs. The lint baseline entry is removed, development guidance describes page decomposition, and extension UI asset references are updated.
pangular-inspector/devtools#373 — This change splits the Network page into components and state services, addressing the issue’s large-page item for this page.
Possibly related PRs
pangular-inspector/devtools#491 — Both PRs change the Network page’s payload refetch flow; this change moves the panel and state into separate files.
pangular-inspector/devtools#489 — The lint baseline edit and development guidance relate to the line-count ratchet introduced by this PR.
pangular-inspector/devtools#490 — The extracted CallTimeline retains sorting and newest-call scrolling behavior from that PR.

Explanation
The title "refactor(ui): split the network page into section components" matches the main change. The PR moves the sections of the network inspector page from app/src/pages/network-inspector.ts into app/src/pages/network/ as separate components (CallTimeline, FaultRules, ResponsePreview, SsrOverrides, SsrRequests, TransferPayload, HydrationStats). It also adds shared state services (NetworkState, RuleState, OverrideState) and http-model.ts. The title is specific, follows a conventional commit format, and a teammate scanning history would understand the primary change.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#369] The only active directly linked objective is the open Medium item: split the network inspector page into child components and a store. All other #369 items are marked done, decided, or tracked elsewhere, so they add no objectives.
Head evidence: app/src/pages/network-inspector.ts is a page shell. It imports the section components (CallTimeline, FaultRules, SsrOverrides, SsrRequests, HydrationStats, TransferPayload) and the helper components (HarExport, HttpLint) from app/src/pages/network/. It provides NetworkState, RuleState and OverrideState as page-level services. The template attaches sections to existing <section> elements (appSsrRequests, appCallTimeline, appFaultRules, appSsrOverrides, appHydrationStats, appTransferPayload). The app/src/pages/network/ folder contains the matching modules, including network-state.ts, rule-state.ts, override-state.ts and http-model.ts.
This meets the child-component and store requirement. Behavior parity (RPC, DOM, ARIA, keyboard) rests on author-reported checks: pnpm test:panel, pnpm test:axe, and screenshot comparison. These were not re-run here. Parity is a PR claim, not a separate issue requirement, so it does not change this verdict. The whole-PR diff was not read in full, so hunk-level parity was not verified.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed areas connect to the page split.
app/src/pages/network/*: moved sections, services, types, helpers, and split modules (for example har-export.ts, http-lint.ts, call-copy.ts, rule-presets.ts). Head shows these files.
app/src/styles/_network.scss: shared style mixins used by the shell (@use 'network' as net) and the sections.
app/src/__tests__/page-conventions.test.ts and packages/devtools/src/__tests__/network-inspector.test.ts: updated for the new layout and recursive page scan.
lint-baseline.json: removes the max-lines entry for the page, which the split makes unnecessary.
apps/docs/.../development.md: documents the split pattern.
extension/ui/index.html and extension/ui/assets/browser-agent-rpc-*.js: change only the asset import name, consistent with the stated extension:build rebuild.
No unrelated change was demonstrated. The rebuilt bundle contents were not inspected in full, but the change described for them is an asset name update. Remaining uncertainty is limited to unread hunks of the whole-PR diff.

The fault rules and SSR overrides sections bind describedBy on
app-select, which the stub did not declare. The contributing note now
describes the line limit as the lint ratchet it is.
