rustdoc is using rustc_ast_pretty, would it be possible to make it somewhat "stable"?

Proposal

Like said in the title, rustdoc is using rustc_ast_pretty to render some elements. @oli-obk suggested me to open a MCP so that:

1. The compiler team is aware of this fact.
2. Maybe somewhat "stabilize" it so that no unexpected and potentially breaking changes come up

We've discussed this in a number of compiler team meetings and we would like to see the proposal fleshed out more completely. I'm going to close this now due to inactivity but please re-open (or submit a new MCP) when you've had a chance to revisit this!
