These changes enable me to output a HexGridVisual where only above-threshold hexes (using a 0-1 post-scaling range) are drawn with full alpha. below the user-set threshold, hexes are drawn with alpha, which can be 0 if required (fully invisible).
Also, we now have parameter to draw individual hexes smaller, leaving gaps between elements.
