Summary

Foreman can now launch LangChain Deep Agents Code (dcode) as a coding or verification worker and supervise its native Hooks v2 lifecycle through core. Add foreman deepagents setup to merge the seven handlers without replacing existing configuration, document credentials and both supervision paths, and bump foreman-core from 0.4.4 to 0.5.0 for this new integration.

The separately installed CLI supplies the harness; the core gains no LangChain dependency. Worker output is bounded, turn/time budgets are enforced, and supervisory shutdown handles the separate LangGraph server process group. Native hook decisions preserve prompt identity, failure evidence, completion allowances, and cleanup. The guide describes native control limits, shell permissions, and duplicate-supervision considerations.

Verification

  • 430 Python tests passed (PYTHONPATH=src .venv/bin/python -m pytest -q).
  • Ruff passed (.venv/bin/python -m ruff check .).
  • Documentation and 0.5.0 release notes are updated.
  • Live sample repo: actual Foreman worker and independent verifier reached FINISHED; 36 calculator tests passed.
  • Live sample repo: autonomous dcode with native Foreman hooks exited 0; 34 calculator tests and all 26 hook invocations passed.
  • Original sample files were unchanged; coding copies used test-specific instructions. Separate native-runtime tests covered tool failures, bounded continuation, and repeated denial.
  • Wheel and source distribution built and passed Twine checks; a clean wheel installation reports 0.5.0 and supports workers, hooks, and idempotent setup without the SDK installed.
  • All 27 Pi integration tests passed against the installed 0.5.0 wheel. PR CI is checked before merge.
  • The first CI run exposed a timing race in the existing noisy-event test. Its debounce now spans the bounded fake worker lifetime, so only the actual completion boundary consumes the ready result; assertions still require all 50 output events and exactly two assessments.

Live test details: integrations/deepagents/live-test-results.md. Tested with Deep Agents Code 0.1.83, SDK 0.7.23, and OpenAI gpt-5.4-mini.
