A compact, native Windows text viewer based on AkelPad — rebuilt around a dark Windows 11 surface, portable Geist fonts, Markdown-oriented highlighting, and PDF preview.
- Native and portable. A Win32 editor with no Electron shell and a compact x64 executable.
- Markdown at a glance. Headings, bold and italic ranges, inline code, links, block quotes, lists, tables, and code blocks receive focused visual treatment while the file remains plain Markdown.
- Geist Mono, rendered consistently. Regular, bold, italic, and bold-italic variants are bundled and selected explicitly so styled ranges remain aligned.
- A considered Windows 11 theme. Dark menus, controls, scrollbars, status bar, and editor palette.
- PDF inside the app. The bundled WebView2-based plugin opens PDFs without leaving TeViewer.
- Encoding without friction. The Locale menu changes the active document encoding immediately.
TeViewer targets Windows x64 and builds with Visual Studio 2022 Build Tools.
- Install the Desktop development with C++ workload.
- Run
Build-TeViewer.cmd. - Start
dist\\TeViewer.exeand openexamples/Markdown-showcase.md.
The repository includes the small x64 WebView2 loader/header set required by the PDF plugin. Build output is intentionally ignored; the produced portable package lives in dist\\.
