Review comments at @content/docs/components/translation/translation-widget.mdx:
- Around line 306-307: Update the translation widget example to use
defaultSourceLocale and defaultTargetLocale instead of controlled sourceLocale
and targetLocale props, and add an onSourceChange callback so the source pane
remains editable and the translated controls, including swapping and clearing,
are interactive.
- Line 173: Update the labels entry in the TranslationWidget props table to
document its type as Partial<TranslationWidgetLabels>, while preserving the
existing description of overriding any subset of built-in English UI text.
Review comments at @src/registry/components/language-switcher.tsx:
- Line 428: Update the empty-message fallback expression near the language
switcher rendering to fall back to text.emptyMessage only when emptyMessage is
undefined, preserving an explicitly passed null as the rendered value.
- Line 198: Update the label resolution near the text construction so an
explicitly undefined override does not replace the corresponding DEFAULT_LABELS
formatter. Ensure each label, especially text.current used by the trigger, falls
back to its default when the override is undefined while preserving defined
custom overrides.
Review comments at @src/registry/components/navbar.tsx:
- Line 218: Update the label construction around DEFAULT_LABELS so undefined
overrides do not replace defaults: use nullish fallbacks for listbox, current,
toggleMenu, and github, while preserving explicitly provided non-nullish values.
Ensure text.current remains callable when labels.current is undefined.
Review comments at @src/registry/components/phone-input.tsx:
- Line 271: Update the country-search comparison in the filtering logic around
getCountryName so both the query and display name use locale-aware lowercasing
with the resolved display locale, while retaining the English fallback when no
display locale is available.

…={null}, locale-aware country search

API, defaults and back-compat look right; checks pass locally (incl. build:lib / test:pack, types exported). One change needed:
- TranslationWidget doesn't forward labels to its pickers (
src/registry/components/translation-widget.tsx:313,:351). The two embeddedLanguageSwitchers get nolabels, so a translated widget still shows "Current language: …", "Search languages...", "No languages found." and "Clear search" in English. Add a key such aslanguageSwitcher?: Partial<LanguageSwitcherLabels>toTranslationWidgetLabels, pass it to both pickers, and add a test.
Optional:
2. phone-input.tsx:280: with displayLocale, countries keep English alphabetical order. Sorting with localeCompare(a, b, displayLocale) would read naturally.
3. translation-widget.tsx:37: note in the TSDoc that characters receives the count, so callers can pluralise.

Thanks! I skipped the country sort since the default list is ordered by popularity, not alphabetically. Happy to add it if you still want it. |

languageSwitcher labels now reach both pickers, with a test; TSDoc updated; popularity order kept for countries; ASCII matching for country codes. Approved.

Merged, thanks @iNerdStack. |
Description
Adds an optional
labelsprop toLanguageSwitcher,PhoneInput,NavBarandTranslationWidgetso their built-in English text (placeholders, empty states, accessible labels, screen reader announcements) can be translated, following #30 and the updated string list in the issue thread. Each component exports a typed*Labelsinterface with TSDoc on every key; any key left out keeps its English default. Interpolated strings take a function, e.g.current: (name) => ....searchPlaceholderandemptyMessageonLanguageSwitcherandPhoneInputstay as aliases of the matchinglabelskeys, so nothing breaks. When both are set, the direct prop wins, so a per-instance override still beats an app-widelabelsobject.PhoneInputalso gets adisplayLocaleprop: when set, country names come fromIntl.DisplayNames, and search matches the translated name. Without it nothing changes.Closes #30
Scope also includes
TranslationWidgetand "Clear search", per the maintainer's update on #30: #30 (comment)Type of change

Notes
labelskeys reuse the existing prop names (searchPlaceholder, emptyMessage) instead of the shorter names in the issue's example, so the aliases map one to one.PhoneInputhas separatetriggerandlistboxkeys because "Select country" appears in both places.onValueChangestill reportsCountry.namein English, so it stays a stable value regardless ofdisplayLocale. A malformeddisplayLocalefalls back to the English names instead of throwing.Intl.DisplayNamesfollows CLDR, so wording can differ slightly between browsers; the docs say so.TranslationWidget's pane placeholders and labels already had their own props, solabelscovers the rest: swap, copy, copied, the copy announcement, clear, and the word read after the character count (a function, for plural forms).LanguageSwitchers insideTranslationWidgetstill use their English defaults ("Current language: …", search text). Forwarding labels to them would mean nesting switcher labels inside the widget's, so I left it for your call. Happy to add it here or in a follow-up.LanguageSwitcherPillalready takesaria-label, so it needed no change.Summary by CodeRabbit
