Summary

Add a parallel GHCR package download-stats pipeline for DPM (dpm install) pulls, kept separate from the existing GitHub Release standalone download charts.

Changes

  • Add scripts/package-stats.sh to scrape the public Packages page (no read:packages token), seed history from the 30-day sparkline, and emit package-downloads-{history.jsonl,monthly.svg,md}
  • Add scripts/package-stats-monthly.jq and scripts/package-stats_test.sh with an HTML fixture
  • Add .github/workflows/package-stats.yml (daily cron + dispatch) publishing only package-downloads-* to release-stats-data
  • Split README Download statistics into Standalone installs vs DPM package downloads subsections

Test plan

  • bash scripts/package-stats_test.sh
  • make test
  • make lint
  • Dispatch Package stats workflow and confirm package-downloads-* appear on release-stats-data without changing release-downloads-*
  • Confirm README embeds resolve after the first workflow run

Checklist

  • Tests pass locally (package-stats_test.sh)
  • No coverage regression on touched code (shell/docs only)
  • Docs updated (README only; no mirrored docs/*.md)
  • CLI ↔ Web UI parity maintained (N/A — docs/CI stats only)

DPM installs via dpm install are not visible in GitHub Release asset
counts; scrape the public Packages page into its own history, charts,
and daily workflow so adoption metrics stay separate.

Resolve README Download statistics conflict by keeping the Standalone
and DPM subsections from this branch over main's short standalone-only note.
