Three pull requests that sat idle since 12 to 16 October, each a fix or an improvement that master still lacks, merged in one batch so the checks run once:

After the reviews of this batch, 2ffda15 makes clearing a deprecation an explicit choice (a clear checkbox; an empty message alone is refused) and pins the deprecate job's actions/setup-node to v7.1.0's commit, since that job holds NPM_TOKEN.

Each pull request's head is in this branch, so GitHub marks it merged when this lands.

Not in the batch:

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a manual workflow for marking published package versions as deprecated or clearing their deprecation notices.
    • Added automated pull request review comments for ESLint findings on newly added code.
  • Improvements

    • Release tags now consistently reference the commit that triggered the release.
  • Documentation

    • Documented pull request lint feedback behavior and procedures for deprecating or restoring published package versions.

A published prerelease such as 0.7.0-beta.1 failed the workflow's version check, so it could not be deprecated. The check now admits a prerelease part, still only digits, letters, dots and hyphens.
The GitHub release step creates the tag v<version> when it does not exist. Without a commit, GitHub makes the tag at master's head when the step runs, so a merge that lands while a release runs would get the tag of code it did not publish. The step now passes the run's commit. Found by a review behind #8.
… comments

A pull request from a branch of this repository that changes src/, the
ESLint config, package.json or this workflow runs ESLint with the lint
script's pattern on its head, and each finding on an added line becomes a
review comment. The job never fails and is not a required check; the build
job's lint step is unchanged. Forks and Dependabot are skipped, since their
token cannot post a review. CONTRIBUTING.md describes it.
…d pin its actions by commit

reviewdog's github-pr-review reporter writes through the pull request API
alone (reviews and review comments), so checks: write was a scope it never
used. actions/checkout and actions/setup-node are pinned to the commits their
v5 tags point at today (v5.1.0 and v5.0.0), the versions the run already used.
…hange of base

reviewdog deletes its earlier comments whose finding is gone, but only in a
run; with the path filter, a push that dropped a pull request's last change
under src/ started none, so the stale comment stayed. The workflow now runs on
every pull request from a branch of this repository.

edited is added for a change of base branch, so the comments follow the new
diff. A title or body edit skips the job, and its run takes a concurrency group
of its own, so it cannot cancel a lint run in progress.

The job's comment gave the wrong reason for skipping Dependabot: the
permissions key raises a Dependabot run's token, so it could post. Dependabot
changes manifests and never a line under src/, and skipping its runs keeps a
newly bumped ESLint package from running with this token.

Fix PostgreSQL exports and storage edge cases; add release workflows

🐞 Bug fix ✨ Enhancement 🧪 Tests ⚙️ Configuration changes 🕐 40+ Minutes

Grey Divider

AI Description

• Make PostgreSQL exports follow pool connection and TLS settings without exposing passwords in
 process arguments.
• Fix segment fallback, IndexedDB PRAGMA durability, and SQL key-value cloning.
• Add release maintenance and ESLint review workflows, with regression tests and documentation.

High-Level Assessment

The following are alternative approaches to this PR:

1. Derive exports from pg ConnectionParameters
  • ➕ Could reduce locally maintained URL parsing and default-resolution logic.
  • ➕ Would follow the installed pg version’s interpretation of connection settings.
  • ➖ A caller-owned pool may use a different pg version or custom Client.
  • ➖ It would not by itself safely translate Node TLS behavior and password functions into libpq settings.

Recommendation: The explicit translation is justified by caller-owned pools, pg/libpq parsing differences, and the requirement to keep secrets off process arguments. Keep the parity tests against pg and real pg_dump; revisit delegation to pg’s own connection objects if it can reduce duplicated parsing without losing those guarantees.

1. Branch authors can forge review comments 🐞 Bug ⛨ Security
Description
reviewdog/action-eslint receives a token with pull-requests: write while linting the pull
request's checkout, including its editable eslint.config.js and plugins. A contributor who can
push a same-repository branch can execute code during lint with access to that review-writing
credential, even though the workflow definition itself comes from the base branch.

2. Deprecate workflow uses a different setup-node tag than the rest ✓ Resolved
Description
deprecate.yml runs actions/setup-node@v7, a moving major tag. Every other workflow uses @v5,
and the new review-comments workflow pins the same action to the commit for v5.0.0. The deprecate
workflow is the only one that runs by hand, and it holds NPM_TOKEN. If no v7 tag exists, the
workflow fails the first time a maintainer runs it. If the tag does exist, the job that holds the
npm token runs code that can change without review.

Informational

3. Changelog names 0.7.17 as the old behaviour 🐞 Bug ⚙ Maintainability
Description
The new Unreleased entries describe the earlier behaviour as "0.7.17 passed…", "0.7.17 wrote…" and
"0.7.17 found…". Master has since released 0.8.0 through 0.8.2, and the PR description says the
0.7.18 bump was dropped for that reason. Users on 0.8.x, who have the same defects, will read these
fixes as covering a version older than theirs and may think they are not affected.
Code

CHANGELOG.md[R4-7]

+- `PostgresExporter` refuses, before `pg_dump` starts, a connection string whose password it cannot move to `PGPASSWORD`: a URI password that is not valid percent-encoding (`%zz`, a `%` at its end, bytes that are not UTF-8) or that decodes to a NUL, and a connection string that holds a NUL. 0.7.17 passed such a URI whole, its password in `--dbname`, where the process list shows it. The refusal never holds the connection string.
+- `PostgresExporter` moves the `password` of keyword=value settings (`host=db.example password='a b'`) to `PGPASSWORD` too, read as libpq reads them: a value runs to whitespace or sits in single quotes, a backslash takes the character after it, and the later of two passwords wins. An empty password goes to `PGPASSWORD` empty, as libpq reads an empty setting, so the environment's `PGPASSWORD` is never sent in its place. Settings libpq refuses (an unterminated quote, a setting with no `=`) are refused before `pg_dump` starts. 0.7.17 passed them whole on the command line.
+- The exporter of a PostgreSQL adapter leaves `sslpassword`, `oauth_client_secret` and the SCRAM keys of a pool's connection string off `pg_dump`'s command line, where libpq takes them alone: pg reads none of them.
+- The exporter of a PostgreSQL adapter has `pg_dump` check the server as the pool's pg does. pg's TLS is Node's, which checks the server's certificate and its host name, and 0.7.17 wrote `sslmode=require` for it, with which libpq checks neither without a root certificate file: an export connected to a server whose certificate the pool refuses. `pg_dump` gets `sslmode=verify-full`, or `verify-ca` where pg checks no host name (`uselibpqcompat=true` with `verify-ca`, or `require` beside a root certificate), against the root certificate file the connection string names, else the file `PGSSLROOTCERT` names, else the system's certificate authorities (`sslrootcert=system`, which libpq reads from PostgreSQL 16 on; with an older libpq the export fails, saying what to do). `uselibpqcompat=true` with `sslmode=verify-ca` and no root certificate is refused before `pg_dump` starts, as pg refuses it.
Evidence
The new entries sit above ## [0.8.2] - 2026-10-21 but compare against 0.7.17 throughout, for
example lines 4, 5, 7, 15-18, 23 and 24.

Use a token scoped to deprecation.

This job receives the publishing NPM_TOKEN, although it does not publish. A package-scoped, stage-only npm token can deprecate versions but cannot publish a new version directly. Use a separate secret for this workflow to limit the publishing credential’s exposure. (docs.npmjs.com) As per retrieved learnings, CI workflows should grant only the permissions they need.

warning through getStorageLogger(), reusing toldPgUnread for both warnings.

Review comments at @.github/workflows/deprecate.yml:
- Line 35: Update the deprecation job’s NODE_AUTH_TOKEN configuration to use a
separate package-scoped, stage-only npm secret rather than secrets.NPM_TOKEN;
keep the existing deprecation workflow behavior unchanged and avoid exposing the
publishing credential.

…pins setup-node to v7.1.0's commit

npm deprecate clears a deprecation when its message is empty, so a run
that left the message out by mistake cleared the mark and passed. The
workflow now asks for a message, or for clear with no message, and
refuses both together. The job holds NPM_TOKEN, so its one action is
pinned to a commit, as the review comments workflow pins its actions.
