Two reasons why the Playwright browsers were downloaded on every run:

  • The cache key hashed packages/ui/node_modules/playwright/package.json, and hashFiles returned an empty string for it (pnpm links the package from outside the workspace). The key was playwright-Linux- on every run. It now carries the Playwright version that playwright --version reports, and the runner image (ImageOS), so a move to another Ubuntu image does not reuse browsers installed on the old one.
  • CI ran only on pull requests, and a cache saved by a pull request is visible only to that pull request. CI now also runs on pushes to main, as in human-kit/charts; the cache saved there is visible to every pull request. The concurrency group falls back to github.ref, because head_ref is empty on a push.
