fix(actions_lock): repair the RSR oracle compile failure and pin the consumer interface - #956
hyperpolymath/secret-types PR #11, job “RSR oracle — dogfood this repo”, step “Compile the oracle”:
error: cannot invoke remote function :erlang.=:=/2 inside a match
170 │ version in @supported_versions ->
└─ lib/rules/actions_lock.ex:170: Hypatia.Rules.ActionsLock.consume_line/3
== Compilation error in file lib/rules/actions_lock.ex ==
** (CompileError) lib/rules/actions_lock.ex: cannot compile module
Hypatia.Rules.ActionsLock (errors have been logged)
(elixir 1.19.4) expanding macro: Kernel.in/2
Reproduced with the gate’s own toolchain (Elixir 1.19.4 / OTP 28.3, plus
1.17.3 / 27.0) at 9a5db53; the same failure is in every consumer’s copy of the
gate. The broken line arrived in #927 (2026-10-20) and sat on main for five days.
in/2 is a guard expression, not a pattern. As a bare case clause head it
expands to a match against :erlang.=:=/2, so the module never compiled. It and
the true -> fallback beside it were dead code: Regex.run/2 with one capture
group always returns [_full, version], and the fallback referenced a version
no pattern had bound.
Two more defects behind it
Both were unobservable while the module did not compile, and surfaced on the
first run of the new gate:
an unreachable duplicate hostname: parser referenced @hostname, a module
attribute that was never defined (it expands to nil, so the branch would have
raised), and emitted :hostname_requires_v0_0_3 — a reason no caller could
receive. Deleted; put_dependency_hostname/3 is the only parser. This is also
what made mix compile --warnings-as-errors impossible.
finalize_dependency/1 built a map with two hostname: keys, the second
(raw nil) winning, so every parsed dependency recorded hostname: nil.
The stored field stays raw nil for an unnamed host — meaning the home host. scope_to_host/2 compares it against the raw value each record carries, so
defaulting it to "github.com" would silently stop an omitted-hostname pin from
being identity-checked against an explicit github.com pin on the same host.
The moduledoc now states this.
The test file held three generations of hostname expectations, written on two
branches the same day and never reconciled (none of them could have passed).
They are aligned with the shipped, documented contract: tenant *.ghe.com hosts
refused (:unsupported_dependency_hostname), a hostname on a v0.0.2 lock refused
(:hostname_not_in_version), unnamed host recorded as nil.
Why nobody saw it
Nothing that gates a merge compiled the Elixir tree: ci.yml had no Elixir job, tests.yml has pull_request: null, and escript-soundness.yml was already red
for unrelated reasons.
Regression test
ci.yml gains elixir-compile (wired into ci-status) on the same
versions the dogfood gate uses: mix deps.get, mix compile --warnings-as-errors,
the ActionsLock + RsrConformance tests, and the consumers’ oracle invocation
with an explicit --ssot. A tree that does not compile cannot run a test, so the
compile is the regression test for this class of defect.
Stable interface for consumers
.github/workflows/rsr-oracle.yml — the oracle as a reusable workflow, consumed pinned by full commit SHA:
jobs:
rsr-score:
uses: hyperpolymath/hypatia/.github/workflows/rsr-oracle.yml@<40-char SHA>with:
standards-ref: <40-char SHA of hyperpolymath/standards>
It checks hypatia out at job.workflow_sha — the commit the caller named — so @abc123… compiles and runs exactly abc123, never main. There is no floating
default. Before this, the generated gate checked out main, so when main broke
every consumer broke at once with no version to roll back to.
SSOT behaviour is preserved, deliberately: the oracle is always invoked with
an explicit --ssot (caller-supplied, else <standards>/0-canon/rsr/rsr-criteria-v2.a2ml), --write defaults on, fail-under stays opt-in, and the task’s own default
resolution is not relied on. Docs: docs/consumers/rsr-oracle.adoc.

📝 Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added reusable conformance checks for pull requests, with score reporting and optional tier-based pass thresholds.
Added support for explicit criteria selection when running conformance checks.
Bug Fixes
Corrected dependency hostname handling so omitted hostnames are treated consistently with github.com.
Improved validation of supported dependency versions and hostnames.
Documentation
Added guidance for using the conformance checks in GitHub Actions or running them locally, including workflow pinning and criteria selection.
This PR corrects ActionsLock version and hostname handling, adds regression coverage and compile checks, and introduces a reusable RSR oracle workflow. The workflow validates its pin, checks out target, standards and oracle repositories, runs scoring with an explicit SSOT path, and publishes scorecard outputs.
Changes: ActionsLock parsing and hostname handling
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Version and hostname parsing lib/rules/actions_lock.ex, test/rules/actions_lock_test.exs, CHANGELOG.adoc
Version checks use guarded clauses, and a redundant hostname parser is removed. Parsed dependencies retain the hostname value as written. Tests cover hostname policy, version errors and omitted hostname values.
Identity checks treat an omitted hostname and explicit github.com as the same scope. Tests cover matching and conflicting owner IDs.

Restrict the temporary probe to the investigation
Once this workflow lands on the default branch, this unrestricted pull_request trigger launches three compile jobs for every future PR, and every job posts its output to issue #955; together with the three tmp-min-* workflows, that adds seven temporary jobs per PR indefinitely. Fork PRs make this worse because GitHub downgrades their token to read-only, so the final issue-comment step fails even when the reproduction succeeds. Limit the probe to workflow_dispatch or the specific investigation branch instead of all PRs.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Preserve the end of captured diagnostics
When the combined reproduction and fetched-log output exceeds 55,000 bytes, head discards the end of /tmp/out.txt, which is exactly where the final compiler error and the end of the appended original job log are likely to appear. The fetch step alone may append 60,000 bytes, so successful log retrieval guarantees truncation before the full tail can be relayed; bound each section separately or retain the end of the file.

Regenerate actions.lock for the new action refs
This repository uses .github/workflows/actions.lock as the authoritative pin for symbolic action references, but the commit adds both actions/checkout@v4 and erlef/setup-beam@v1 without adding an entry for this workflow. The repository's documented lock verification treats that drift as a startup_failure with zero jobs, so the reproduction and issue relay never execute. Regenerate and commit the lockfile alongside the workflow.

Bound the diagnostic sections before posting the issue comment.
head -c 55000 /tmp/out.txt keeps only the first 55,000 bytes. If the dependency or compiler output exceeds this limit, later diagnostics are removed. The job log is appended after that output, so it can be omitted from the issue comment.
Apply the same correction to .github/workflows/tmp-min-d.yml. Reserve space for exit codes and include a bounded tail of each diagnostic section.
This is a real limitation in the temporary diagnostic workflow, but it does not affect the production path. Treat it as a minor issue.

…behind it
`mix compile` failed on main (2026-10-20 → 10-25), which took down every
consumer's "RSR oracle — dogfood this repo" job, starting with
hyperpolymath/secret-types#11:
error: cannot invoke remote function :erlang.=:=/2 inside a match
170 │ version in @supported_versions ->
└─ lib/rules/actions_lock.ex:170: Hypatia.Rules.ActionsLock.consume_line/3
** (CompileError) ... expanding macro: Kernel.in/2
`in/2` is a guard expression, not a pattern; as a bare `case` clause head it
expands to a match against `:erlang.=:=/2`. #927 introduced it, together with
a `true ->` fallback referencing a `version` the pattern never bound. Both
were dead: `Regex.run/2` with one capture group always returns
`[_full, version]`, so the two `[_, version]` clauses above covered every
outcome. The version is now bound by the pattern and membership is tested in
the guards — the only form that compiles.
Two further defects in the same module were invisible while it did not
compile, and both are fixed here:
* an unreachable duplicate `hostname:` parser referenced `@hostname`, a module
attribute that was never defined (it expands to nil, so the branch would
have raised), and it emitted `:hostname_requires_v0_0_3` — a reason no caller
could ever receive. Deleted; `put_dependency_hostname/3` is the only parser.
This also makes `mix compile --warnings-as-errors` possible.
* `finalize_dependency/1` built a map with two `hostname:` keys, the second
(raw nil) winning, so every parsed dependency recorded `hostname: nil`.
The stored field stays raw nil for an unnamed host, which IS the home host:
`scope_to_host/2` compares it against the raw value each record carries, so
defaulting it to "github.com" would silently stop an omitted-hostname pin from
being identity-checked against an explicit github.com pin on the same host.
The moduledoc now says so.
The test file held three generations of hostname expectations, written on two
branches the same day and never reconciled (~40 assertions could not have
passed). They are aligned with the shipped, documented contract — tenant
`*.ghe.com` hosts refused (`:unsupported_dependency_hostname`), a hostname on a

…e interface
Two changes that stop this class of failure from reaching consumers twice.
1. `ci.yml` gains an `elixir-compile` job, part of `ci-status`, on the exact
versions the estate's dogfood gate uses (Elixir 1.19.4 / OTP 28.3):
`mix deps.get`, `mix compile --warnings-as-errors`, the ActionsLock and
RsrConformance regression tests, and the consumers' oracle invocation with
an explicit `--ssot`. Nothing that gated a merge compiled the Elixir tree:
`ci.yml` had no Elixir job, `tests.yml` has `pull_request: null`, and
`escript-soundness.yml` was already red for unrelated reasons. A failing
compile is the regression test here — a tree that does not compile cannot
run a test.
2. `.github/workflows/rsr-oracle.yml` is the oracle as a reusable workflow.
Consumers call it pinned by full commit SHA and it checks hypatia out at
`job.workflow_sha` — the commit the caller named — so `main` is no longer
the de facto release. Before, a consumer that checked out `main` had no
version to roll back to when main broke. The explicit-SSOT contract is
unchanged: the workflow always passes `--ssot`, defaulting to
`<standards>/0-canon/rsr/rsr-criteria-v2.a2ml`, and `fail-under` stays
opt-in. Verified end to end by calling the workflow from a PR job, with
`job.workflow_sha` resolving to the pinned commit.
Docs: docs/consumers/rsr-oracle.adoc (pin rule, SSOT rule, gating rule), a
README pointer, a CHANGELOG entry, and the actions.lock entries for both
workflows.

WIP: fix RSR oracle compile failure (dogfood gate)
fix(actions_lock): repair the RSR oracle compile failure and pin the consumer interface
Oct 25, 2026
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Normalize implicit and explicit github.com to one identity scope
When one dependency omits hostname and another explicitly names github.com, this stores nil for the former while scope_to_host/2 compares raw values, so the two pins are treated as different hosts even though both bind to github.com. A crafted lock can therefore assign conflicting owner or repository IDs to dependencies on the same host and still parse successfully; normalize both forms to the home hostname when selecting the identity-validation scope.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Keep oracle dependencies outside the scored tree
With the default target-path: '.', _standards and _hypatia are created inside the repository tree that line 187 later passes to the scorer. The delegated scanner recursively walks that tree without excluding either directory, and tree_hits/2 likewise searches nested files, so an auxiliary checkout containing a banned-language file or package-lock.json can lower the consumer's score even though that file is not in the consumer repository; checkout the target into its own sibling directory or otherwise exclude these helper trees.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Reject branch refs instead of only checking the resolved SHA
When a consumer calls this workflow with @main, job.workflow_sha is still the resolved 40-character commit, so this check passes and the consumer continues following a mutable branch across runs—the exact failure mode the new interface is intended to eliminate. GitHub's job context reference distinguishes the resolved SHA from job.workflow_ref, which retains @refs/heads/main; reject branch-shaped workflow refs (while allowing the documented SHA/tag forms) rather than treating every resolved SHA as proof that the caller pinned one.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Capture outputs before propagating a failed tier gate
When fail-under is supplied and the score does not meet it—or the scorecard is provisional—the Mix task writes the scorecard and report line but exits nonzero. Because this script enables both -e and pipefail, it exits at this pipeline before parsing the report and writing tier, score, and provisional to $GITHUB_OUTPUT, leaving all advertised workflow outputs empty precisely for a valid scored result that failed policy; capture the pipeline status, emit the outputs, and then return the saved failure status.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Refuse to score a missing target directory
When a caller supplies a mistyped or stale target-path, this constructs a nonexistent target and passes it to an engine that deliberately treats missing trees as sparse repositories rather than errors. With no fail-under, the workflow therefore succeeds and publishes a misleading low score, while the default --write can even create the missing directory hierarchy and make the target appear to have existed; validate that the resolved target is an existing directory before invoking the oracle.
…as one host
Codex review (P1). `scope_to_host/2` compared the raw hostname, so a lock
that named `github.com` on one dependency and omitted it on another put the
two pins in different identity scopes — and the owner_id/repo_id consistency
check, which exists to catch a pin whose identity does not match the
recorded repository, was skipped entirely for that pair. Normalizing `nil`
to the home host on both sides closes it.
Regression test added: the same owner-id conflict spelled implicitly and
explicitly is caught, and agreeing identities across the two spellings parse.

…ep gate output
Codex review of the new reusable workflow:
* P1 — the helper checkouts (`_standards`, `_hypatia`) sat inside the
workspace, i.e. inside the tree being scored, and the scorer walks the tree
recursively. They now live in $RUNNER_TEMP, so the oracle cannot grade
itself or inflate coverage with the canon.
* P2 — checking that job.workflow_sha is 40 hex chars does not detect a branch
pin, because `@main` resolves to a commit too. The caller's ref is read from
job.workflow_ref and branch refs now fail, as the docs already claimed.
* P2 — with --fail-under, `set -euo pipefail` killed the step at the pipeline,
so tier/score/provisional were never published on exactly the runs that
failed. The status is captured, outputs are published, then the job fails.
* P2 — a missing target-path was passed to an engine that treats a missing
tree as a sparse repository, publishing a scorecard for nothing. Now an
error.
Also stops interpolating caller inputs into `run:` bodies (shell injection):
they arrive through env instead.
Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
…ay outside it
`actions/checkout` refuses a `path` outside the workspace (that is why the
$RUNNER_TEMP attempt failed), so the caller's repository is checked out into
`repo/` and the oracle and canon are its siblings at the workspace root.
The scored tree is still only the caller's files — the property that
matters — without asking checkout to do something it will not do.
Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
A same-repository `uses:` resolves the oracle at the caller's own commit, so
its ref cannot float independently of the caller — only a cross-repository
call can follow someone else's branch. The check now distinguishes the two;
`hyperpolymath/hypatia/...@main` from another repository is still refused.
Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
…ed host
The previous scoping test asserted that a lock naming `github.com` on one
dependency and omitting it on another parses with two different owner_ids —
which is the hole the previous commit closes. It now asserts the conflict in
both spellings, plus a parsing case with agreeing identities that still checks
each record keeps the value the lock wrote.

The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Keep target-path out of the generated shell script
When a caller forwards untrusted data into target-path (for example, a workflow_dispatch input or PR-derived value), characters such as "; command; # are interpolated directly into this run: block. The earlier scoring step safely passes the same input through env, but this if: always() step still executes after that step rejects the malformed path, allowing the injected command to run. Pass target-path through an environment variable here as well.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Constrain target-path to the repository checkout
When target-path is .., an absolute path, or a symlink escaping repo/, this construction still resolves to an existing directory and passes the check below, so the oracle scores helper checkouts or another workspace directory instead of the caller repository and may write the scorecard there. Canonicalize both paths and reject targets outside $GITHUB_WORKSPACE/repo before scoring.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Do not exempt explicit same-repository branch calls
When a workflow in this repository calls hyperpolymath/hypatia/.github/workflows/rsr-oracle.yml@main, the two repository variables match and this new exception forces ok=1 even though job.workflow_ref is refs/heads/main. The fresh evidence is the same-repository bypass added here: GitHub only guarantees same-commit behavior for local ./ or $/ calls, while explicit {owner}/{repo}@{ref} calls resolve the supplied branch, tag, or SHA (workflow syntax); compare the workflow SHA with the caller SHA before applying the exemption, or reject branch refs uniformly.
* `actions/untrusted-checkout` (x3): the workflow checks out pull-request
content, and `actions/checkout` leaves the job token in `.git/config` by
default. `persist-credentials: false` on all three checkouts — the scored
tree is untrusted by construction.
* code injection (x4): `job.workflow_*` and `inputs.target-path` were spliced
into `run:` bodies. They now arrive through `env:`, so no caller-supplied
value is ever parsed as shell text.

Require a SHA instead of guessing tags from v-prefixed refs
For a cross-repository call whose ref is a branch such as @v1-next (or @v1 when no same-named tag exists), this arm sets ok=1 solely from the spelling of job.workflow_ref. Reusable-workflow refs may name branches, tags, or SHAs, so a v prefix does not prove that the ref is a tag; the workflow consequently accepts a moving branch and can run different oracle code on later invocations despite its pinning guarantee. Require a commit SHA, or verify tag identity through authoritative ref metadata rather than the name prefix.
The task will inspect the CI failures, validate its fix, and commit the fix to this branch automatically.
Note: Fixing CI failures is a beta feature and may encounter errors. Expect some limitations and changes as we gather feedback and continue to improve it.

`github.event.pull_request.head.sha` is the `actions/untrusted-checkout` shape:
it checks out exactly the caller's pull request content and compiles in a
workflow the PR author did not write. Score `github.sha` (the commit under
test — the merge commit for a PR) instead. Callers that specifically want the
head pass `target-ref`, which makes that choice explicit in their own
workflow rather than implicit here.

which rejects (a) a pinned commit SHA — the whole point of `standards-ref` —
and (b) the empty default, so the workflow could not run its own default
path. It now accepts an empty ref (default branch), a commit SHA, or a
release tag, and refuses branches; the repository allowlist stays.
* the job was guarded with `if: github.event_name != 'pull_request_target'`,
which silently skips — a green tick with no scorecard. It now refuses that
context with an explicit error and runs normally otherwise.

Correct the documented target-ref default
When a caller omits target-ref for a pull_request run, the checkout at line 160 uses github.sha, which the workflow itself correctly identifies as the merge commit, not the PR head promised here. Consumers relying on this interface can therefore score a different tree than documented; describe the default as the event/merge commit or restore the advertised head-SHA behavior.

Validate v-prefixed standards refs as tags
When standards-ref names a branch such as v1-next and no same-named tag exists, this arm accepts it and the checkout follows that mutable branch, despite the input and validation comments promising an immutable ref. The official actions/checkout input reference explicitly permits ref to be a branch, tag, or SHA, so spelling alone does not prove tag identity; require a full commit SHA or resolve and verify the ref through authoritative metadata.

Respect write=false when showing the scorecard
When a caller sets the advertised write: false, a successful oracle run intentionally creates no file, so this existence check emits the false warning that the oracle failed; if the checkout already contains a committed scorecard, it instead publishes that stale file as the current result. Gate this summary step on inputs.write and the scoring outcome, or generate the displayed scorecard independently of whether it is written into the target tree.

Preserve the repository name in generated scorecards
With the default target-path: '.', this passes $GITHUB_WORKSPACE/repo/. to the scorer, while RsrConformance.score/2 derives the scorecard's repo field using Path.basename(Path.expand(repo_path)). Consequently every consumer using the default path publishes repo = "repo" rather than its actual repository name, corrupting the identity metadata used to attribute aggregated scorecards; pass the caller's repository name explicitly or use a checkout directory whose basename preserves it.

Persist the generated scorecard for callers
When write is true, this creates the scorecard only inside the called workflow job's temporary checkout. Callers cannot add steps after a reusable-workflow call, and downstream jobs use separate runners; GitHub documents that reusable workflows expose outputs to subsequent jobs and that files must be uploaded as artifacts to persist or share them between jobs. Because this workflow uploads nothing and exposes only three scalar outputs, consumers cannot retrieve the advertised machine-readable scorecard after the job ends; upload it as an artifact or expose its contents through an output.

## Summary
`hyperpolymath/standards` now redirects (HTTP 301) to
**`metadatastician/standards`**. Git clone and fetch follow that
redirect. **GitHub Actions does not follow it for a reusable workflow**,
so every caller pinned at `hyperpolymath/standards@333b06a` fails at
startup:
```
Invalid workflow file: .github/workflows/governance.yml#L19
error parsing called workflow ... "hyperpolymath/standards/.github/workflows/governance-reusable.yml@333b06a…"
: workflow was not found.
```
- Governance on main has ended in `startup_failure` with no jobs since
2026-10-25 21:18 UTC (#954, then #956).
- Scorecard has failed the same way since 2026-10-26. Its last green run
was 2026-10-25 04:15 at `9a5db53`.
- `333b06a` is still on standards' `main`, so this is the move, not a
lost commit.
This PR re-points the 5 reusable callers (governance, hypatia-scan,
mirror, scorecard, secret-scanner), plus the gitleaks-baseline
`repository:` checkout in security-policy, to
`metadatastician/standards` at **the same SHAs**. No behaviour change is
intended.
### Lockfile
`actions.lock` is tool-owned and must not be hand-edited. This session
has no working `gh` credential, so a **one-off workflow on this branch**
does the regeneration (precedent: #936). It:
1. runs `gh actions-lock` v0.2.0 with `github.token`;
2. runs the estate repair chain from standards `333b06a`
(`relock-sha-keys`, `complete-job-refs`, `close-lock`, `prune-stale`).
This is `regen_lock` from `scripts/regen-dependabot-locks.sh`: the lock
alone changes, and the workflow YAML is restored;
3. verifies the result with `update-actions-lock.sh --verify-local`,
`check-lock-sync.sh` and the governance gate's own
`check-actions-lock-gate.sh`;
4. commits **only** the lock back to this branch.
The one-off has no `uses:`, so it starts without a lock entry. It
removes itself from the tree before the tool runs, so the lock never
records it. I delete it in a separate commit before this leaves draft.
## Type of change
- [x] 🐛 Bug fix (CI regression from an upstream repository move)
- [x] 🔧 Build / CI / tooling
## How has this been verified?
- `actionlint` 1.7.7: 0 messages on all 6 changed workflows and the
one-off.
- `shellcheck`: 0 messages on the one-off's script.
- hypatia's own `WorkflowHardening.scan/1` gives no finding on the
one-off. WH002 first flagged a top-level `contents: write`, so that
permission now sits on the job.
- I confirmed the cause by `curl -sI
https://github.com/hyperpolymath/standards` → `Location:
https://github.com/metadatastician/standards`, and by the run-page error
above.
- I confirmed that standards' reusables at `333b06a` make **no** nested
`uses:` call to `hyperpolymath/standards`, so re-pointing the callers is
enough. They do `actions/checkout` it by `repository:` 18 + 2 + 2 + 2
times; git follows the redirect for those, and this PR's governance run
is the end-to-end check.
- **Pending:** the one-off's run, then this PR's first green governance
run after the lock commit.
## Notes for reviewers
- **Beyond this repo:** every estate caller of
`hyperpolymath/standards/...` breaks the same way. The ratchet census
counted about 368 governance callers, and echidna is one of them. This
PR is the hypatia pilot and could become the gitbot-fleet propagation
recipe.
- The `with: hypatia-ref:` scanner pin is unchanged.
## Checklist
- [ ] My commits are **signed**. The session's signing shim is
platform-mediated.
- [x] I ran the project's own checks/tests locally and they pass (scoped
as above).
- [x] New files carry the correct SPDX (MPL-2.0 on the one-off).
- [x] Docs are updated, and no public claim now overstates what the code
does.
- [x] I have not introduced a soundness hole.

What failed
hyperpolymath/secret-typesPR #11, job “RSR oracle — dogfood this repo”, step“Compile the oracle”:
Reproduced with the gate’s own toolchain (Elixir 1.19.4 / OTP 28.3, plus
1.17.3 / 27.0) at
9a5db53; the same failure is in every consumer’s copy of thegate. The broken line arrived in #927 (2026-10-20) and sat on
mainfor five days.in/2is a guard expression, not a pattern. As a barecaseclause head itexpands to a match against
:erlang.=:=/2, so the module never compiled. It andthe
true ->fallback beside it were dead code:Regex.run/2with one capturegroup always returns
[_full, version], and the fallback referenced aversionno pattern had bound.
Two more defects behind it
Both were unobservable while the module did not compile, and surfaced on the
first run of the new gate:
hostname:parser referenced@hostname, a moduleattribute that was never defined (it expands to
nil, so the branch would haveraised), and emitted
:hostname_requires_v0_0_3— a reason no caller couldreceive. Deleted;
put_dependency_hostname/3is the only parser. This is alsowhat made
mix compile --warnings-as-errorsimpossible.finalize_dependency/1built a map with twohostname:keys, the second(raw
nil) winning, so every parsed dependency recordedhostname: nil.The stored field stays raw
nilfor an unnamed host — meaning the home host.scope_to_host/2compares it against the raw value each record carries, sodefaulting it to
"github.com"would silently stop an omitted-hostname pin frombeing identity-checked against an explicit
github.compin on the same host.The moduledoc now states this.
The test file held three generations of hostname expectations, written on two
branches the same day and never reconciled (none of them could have passed).
They are aligned with the shipped, documented contract: tenant
*.ghe.comhostsrefused (
:unsupported_dependency_hostname), a hostname on a v0.0.2 lock refused(
:hostname_not_in_version), unnamed host recorded asnil.Why nobody saw it
Nothing that gates a merge compiled the Elixir tree:
ci.ymlhad no Elixir job,tests.ymlhaspull_request: null, andescript-soundness.ymlwas already redfor unrelated reasons.
Regression test
ci.ymlgainselixir-compile(wired intoci-status) on the sameversions the dogfood gate uses:
mix deps.get,mix compile --warnings-as-errors,the
ActionsLock+RsrConformancetests, and the consumers’ oracle invocationwith an explicit
--ssot. A tree that does not compile cannot run a test, so thecompile is the regression test for this class of defect.
Stable interface for consumers
.github/workflows/rsr-oracle.yml— the oracle as a reusable workflow, consumedpinned by full commit SHA:
It checks hypatia out at
job.workflow_sha— the commit the caller named — so@abc123…compiles and runs exactlyabc123, nevermain. There is no floatingdefault. Before this, the generated gate checked out
main, so whenmainbrokeevery consumer broke at once with no version to roll back to.
SSOT behaviour is preserved, deliberately: the oracle is always invoked with
an explicit
--ssot(caller-supplied, else<standards>/0-canon/rsr/rsr-criteria-v2.a2ml),--writedefaults on,fail-understays opt-in, and the task’s own defaultresolution is not relied on. Docs:
