Refs #370

What and why

This builds the panel items from #370 that main didn't have yet. Two of the requested items were already on main, so this PR leaves them alone: the Analog hex colours moved to tokens in #418, and axe on the loading and error states landed in #438. The Filter field, splitters, counts pill and buildReport() landed in #483.

Item Change Tests
1. Remember scroll and selection per view New app/src/view-memory.ts. ViewMemory saves state in sessionStorage, keyed by view, pageId and tab, and falls back to memory when storage is blocked. The shell saves main's scroll and restores it when you switch tabs and after a reload, waiting for the content to grow and stopping when you scroll. rememberSelection() keeps the selected item on Timeline, SSR & HTTP, NgRx Store, TanStack Query, Forms and Capacitor. view-memory.test.ts, app-shell.test.ts (App scroll memory), timeline.test.ts (keeps the selected event)
2. Route tree treegrid The router Config table is now role="treegrid", with rowgroup, row, columnheader and gridcell roles, aria-level, aria-expanded and one roving tab stop. Up and Down move, Home and End jump, Right expands or moves to the first child, and Left collapses or moves to the parent. An arrow next to each path toggles it with the mouse. A filter flattens the tree. route-tree-treegrid.test.ts, plus the axe seed below
4. Shared <app-state> New app/src/ui/app-state.ts with four kinds: loading (status with a spinner), error (alert with Retry and a retrying input), empty (status) and no-match (Clear filters, not a live region). It replaces the hand-written blocks on timeline, errors, capacitor, plugins, audit, query, store, network, live-route, route-lint, route-tree, route-timeline and route-inspector. The source route scan's error state had no Retry before; it has one now. app-state.test.ts, page-conventions.test.ts (no hand-written Retry alerts left; every error state has (retry); every no-match state has (clear))
5. Pause and auto-scroll New app/src/ui/live-feed.ts. LiveFeed holds a snapshot while paused, counts the entries that arrive meanwhile, and keeps holding across a page or store switch. followNewest() and <app-live-controls> add a Pause button (aria-pressed) and a Follow newest checkbox saved in localStorage. Used on the SSR & HTTP timeline, the NgRx Store change log and the router Navigations view. live-feed.test.ts (unit tests and router timeline), network-live-sort.test.ts, store-inspector.test.ts (live controls)
6. Sortable headers with aria-sort New app/src/ui/sort-header.ts (th[appSortHeader], nextSort, sortRows). Each click goes ascending, then descending, then back to the original order. The sort is stable and rows with no value stay last. Added to the SSR & HTTP call table (Method, URL, Status, Time) and the source route config table (Path, Target, Title, Declared in). sort-header.test.ts, network-live-sort.test.ts
7. axe coverage Already on main (#438). This PR also adds a router seed to scripts/panel-axe.mjs, so axe and the 360px check now cover the tree grid (expanded and collapsed) and the paused Navigations view. pnpm test:axe

Other changes:

  • Docs: getting-started/popup-and-hub.md, inspectors/ssr-http.md, inspectors/router.md and inspectors/ngrx-store.md.
  • Changelog entries under ## 1.0.0.
  • extension/ui is rebuilt.
  • test-setup.ts clears the remembered view state between tests.
  • Two existing tests needed small updates. route-timeline-clear.test.ts now skips the new live-controls status region, and store-inspector.test.ts checks the new loading state.

No RPC names, data shapes or collectors changed.

How it was verified

  • pnpm commit:check
  • pnpm format:check
  • pnpm typecheck (includes the ngc template checks)
  • pnpm test:panel: 1030 passed, 1 skipped (it was already skipped)
  • pnpm skills:check
  • Docs updated and pnpm docs:build passes
  • pnpm extension:build, with extension/ui committed
  • pnpm test:axe passes in dark and light, including the 360px overflow checks and the new router seed

Not run: pnpm test, pnpm test:devtools and pnpm build. The package was not changed. A manual check against the live demo apps was not done; the axe harness covers the touched pages against the static report.

Notes for reviewers

  • The component tree, injectors and signals pages have their own selection and focus logic, so this PR doesn't apply selection memory to them. Scroll memory still covers every tab.
  • The DI and signals pages keep their custom error blocks. Their focus handling depends on those blocks, so they aren't converted to <app-state>.
  • Panel screenshots in apps/docs/public/images/panel were not regenerated.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Live timelines and activity logs can be paused, show how many entries arrived, and resume when you’re ready. Follow newest keeps the latest entry in view.
    • Sortable tables now support ascending, descending, and unsorted views.
    • Route configuration is navigable as a keyboard-accessible, expandable tree.
    • Tab scroll positions and selected items are remembered across switches and panel reloads.
    • Shared loading, error, empty, and no-match states provide consistent retry and clear-filter actions.
  • Documentation

    • Updated inspector guides with details on live controls, sorting, keyboard navigation, and saved view state.

…ables

The panel lost its place on every tab switch, the route config had no tree
semantics, each page hand-rolled its loading and error states, and the live
lists moved under the reader with no way to stop them.

- Each tab keeps its scroll position, and six pages keep their selection,
in sessionStorage per view and page (memory when storage is blocked).
- The router Config view is a treegrid with aria-level, aria-expanded, a
roving tab stop and arrow keys to move, expand and collapse.
- A shared app-state component for loading, error with Retry, empty and
no-match with Clear filters, used across thirteen pages.
- Pause and Follow newest on the HTTP timeline, the store change log and
  the router Navigations view.
- Sortable headers with aria-sort on the HTTP call table and the source
  route config table.

Refs #370
Seed a router page with a nested config and two navigations, so the axe run reaches the Config tree grid, collapsed and expanded, and the Navigations view while paused, at full width and at 360px.

Walkthrough

This pull request adds shared inspector states, per-view scroll and selection memory, live-feed pause and follow controls, sortable tables, and a keyboard-operable route treegrid. It also adds tests and documentation for these changes.

Changes: Inspector state and adoption

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared page states
app/src/ui/app-state.ts, app/src/pages/*, app/src/__tests__/app-state.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/page-conventions.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/store-inspector.test.ts, packages/devtools/CHANGELOG.md, extension/ui/index.html, extension/ui/assets/browser-agent-rpc-KH4HHvHf-DISCGNeO.js
AppState renders loading, error, empty, and no-match states, with retry and clear actions. Inspector pages replace local state markup with the shared component. Tests cover state rendering and page adoption; the changelog and extension asset references are updated.

View memory

Layer / File(s) Summary
Per-view memory and shell integration
app/src/view-memory.ts, app/src/app.ts, app/src/pages/*, app/src/__tests__/view-memory.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/app-shell.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/timeline.test.ts, app/src/test-setup.ts, apps/docs/src/content/getting-started/popup-and-hub.md, apps/docs/src/content/inspectors/ssr-http.md
ViewMemory stores values by view and inspected page and falls back to memory when storage access fails. The app restores tab scroll positions, and several inspectors remember selections. Tests cover storage fallback, selection restoration, and scroll restoration. The documentation describes persisted tab state.

Live feeds

Layer / File(s) Summary
Live-feed behavior and inspector wiring
app/src/ui/live-feed.ts, app/src/pages/network-inspector.ts, app/src/pages/route-timeline.ts, app/src/pages/store-inspector.ts, app/src/__tests__/live-feed.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/network-live-sort.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/store-inspector.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/route-timeline-clear.test.ts, packages/devtools/src/__tests/*, apps/docs/src/content/inspectors/{ngrx-store,router,ssr-http}.md
LiveFeed holds displayed entries while paused, tracks arrivals, and stores the Follow newest preference. Network, navigation, and store views use the feed and its controls. Tests cover pause, resume, pending counts, and follow behavior; inspector documentation describes these controls.

Sortable tables

Layer / File(s) Summary
Sortable table behavior
app/src/ui/sort-header.ts, app/src/pages/route-inspector.ts, app/src/pages/network-inspector.ts, app/src/__tests__/sort-header.test.ts, app/src/__tests__/network-live-sort.test.ts, apps/docs/src/content/inspectors/router.md
SortHeader and sortRows implement sort-state cycling and stable sorting. The route and network tables expose sortable columns, and their tests check sorting behavior and accessible sort state.

Route treegrid

Layer / File(s) Summary
Route treegrid and accessibility checks
app/src/pages/route-tree.ts, app/src/__tests__/route-tree-treegrid.test.ts, scripts/panel-axe.mjs, apps/docs/src/content/inspectors/router.md
The route configuration table gains treegrid semantics, expandable rows, and keyboard navigation. Filtering displays matching routes. Tests and seeded accessibility checks cover treegrid interactions.

Explanation

The title "feat(ui): remember scroll, treegrid routes, shared states, sortable tables" matches the changeset. The diff adds per-tab scroll and selection memory (ViewMemory, rememberSelection, restoreScroll, App.rememberScroll), converts the router Config table into a keyboard-navigable treegrid (RouteTree), adds a shared app-state component across inspector pages, and adds sortable headers (SortHeader, sortRows, nextSort) to the route and network tables. The title covers the main changes. It omits the live pause/follow-newest controls (LiveFeed, LiveControls), but it names the main changes and does not need to list every detail.

Workers Builds: angular-devtools fails on every open PR and on main's preview builds. It's the Cloudflare deploy setup, not this change, so this PR doesn't fix it. The repo's own CI (Nx test/build, typecheck, axe, docs) is what gates the merge.

Align the paragraph with the doc style rules.

The sentence "They are saved in sessionStorage per view and inspected page, and kept in memory when storage is blocked" mixes passive voice and two ideas. The guidelines require active voice and one idea per sentence.

Proposed rewrite

Switching tabs or reloading the panel brings them back. They are saved in `sessionStorage` per view and inspected page, and kept in memory when storage is blocked.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Fix followNewest so it scrolls the HTTP timeline table.

querySelector('.table-wrap') returns the first .table-wrap in the host. The SSR requests table renders before the HTTP timeline and uses the same class. When SSR requests exist, Follow newest scrolls the SSR requests table to the top and leaves the call table where it was.

Reuse the existing callsBody view child to reach the correct wrapper.

Fix the plural agreement in the resume announcement.

Resumed with ${count} new ${what} produces "Resumed with 1 new calls." and "Resumed with 1 new navigations." when count is 1. Screen readers announce this text. app/src/__tests__/network-live-sort.test.ts (lines 134-136) asserts the wrong string. Rewrite the sentence so it does not depend on number agreement, and update that assertion.

✏️ Proposed fix

-          ? `Resumed with ${count} new ${this.what()}.`
+          ? `Resumed. New ${this.what()}: ${count}.`

In app/src/__tests__/network-live-sort.test.ts, change the expected text to 'Resumed. New calls: 1.'.

Preserve the saved target during scroll restoration.

If a restore moves main to a clamped position, rememberScroll() can save that smaller position. A reload or tab switch before the content grows can then lose the saved target.

Prevent restore-generated scroll events from replacing an unfinished target. Continue to save user-initiated scrolling.

The live route config. The tab merges lazy children in once they load, and marks the active branch.

The config is a tree grid, so a screen reader reads each route's level and whether it is expanded. The grid is one `Tab` stop. Up and down arrows move between routes, and `Home` and `End` jump to the first and last. Right arrow expands a collapsed route, or moves to its first child. Left arrow collapses an expanded route, or moves to its parent. The arrow before a path toggles it with the mouse. While a filter is set, the tree shows every matching route and can't be collapsed.

Correct the claim that the grid is one Tab stop.

Only the route rows share one tab stop. Each row also contains the param fields and the Go and Read lazy buttons. These controls keep the default tab order. The existing test "leaves keys typed into a row field alone" shows that controls live inside rows.

Reword the sentence so it matches the code.

…notes

Follow newest scrolled the SSR requests table, which comes first and
shares the .table-wrap class; it now finds the call table's own wrapper.
A scroll restore that clamped on short content saved the smaller
position, so a reload lost it; positions are not saved while a restore
runs. The resume announcement no longer reads "1 new calls". The router
docs say the route rows share one Tab stop and the controls in a row
stay in the Tab order. Doc sentences split to one idea each.

app/src/pages/network-inspector.ts:2892-2900
Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Resume the feed in clearCalls() so Clear timeline works while paused.

While the feed is paused, callFeed.items() returns the held snapshot, not the live list. clearCalls() clears the server list, but timeline() keeps showing the held calls. The user sees the message "Timeline cleared." and the table does not change. The HAR export and the rule match count also keep using the held entries.

Resume the feed after a successful clear so the view matches the cleared state.

🐛 Proposed fix

     try {
       await call(this.rpc(), 'clear-http-calls');
+      this.callFeed.resume();
       this.selectedCallId.set(null);

The package tests render the SSR & HTTP and Store pages without the AOT
compiler, so JIT never saw the signal inputs of LiveControls and
SortHeader and threw NG0950. The tests now add the input metadata, the
way they already do for Select and the store tabs.
A paused feed kept showing the held calls after Clear timeline, so the
table, the HAR export and the rule match count stayed stale under the
"Timeline cleared." message. Clearing now resumes the feed. The SSR &
HTTP docs also say the open call comes back on the default page only.
