feat(mcp): performance and build inspectors, native fetch, server errors, oxlint ratchet - #489
Refs #372, #373, #369. Ships in 1.0.0. Covers the new collectors and the code-health items.
New collectors and inspectors
Performance tab:perf-collector.ts reads LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, TTFB and long tasks outside the zone. LCP and INP name their element and owning component. Reports carry a pageId, are skipped when unchanged and expire on the server. New agent tool: web-vitals.
Build tab:build-graph.ts reads Vite's module graph (lazy boundaries, module sizes) and the production chunks on disk (initial or lazy, gzip size). New agent tools: module-graph and chunk-sizes.
Native fetch(): calls are recorded but never read. Headers are masked, and a withFetch() HttpClient call is counted once. The panel tags these fetch(), and list-http-calls flags them.
SSR and Vite errors: errors are grouped, masked and expire. They appear in a Server errors section on the Errors tab, with a new list-server-errors tool and a clear-server-errors RPC.
All of these have RPC_INSPECTOR and AGENT_ENTRIES entries.
Typed debug API:debug-api.ts types window.ng against Angular 22.1, and a compat test fails when Angular adds a function the type doesn't declare.
extraDevframes: a new option on initPangularHub() and the Vite plugin. It's documented.
devframe.ts split: about half done, and mechanical. The component, router, forms and HTTP tool blocks moved into their own files, which takes the file from 4,876 to 2,933 lines. Tool order and answers are unchanged.
Left out: splitting the network page, which would conflict with the HTTP work. The ratchet now stops it from growing.
This branch predates several merges, so main has to be merged in and the tool counts recounted before this goes green.
Once this is on main, any PR that adds lines to one of the 12 long files fails pnpm lint until it moves code out or runs pnpm lint --update --allow-new. Merge this after the other open PRs.
pnpm lint runs oxlint (correctness rules plus no-explicit-any) and fails
when a file has more warnings of a rule than lint-baseline.json allows.
The baseline only goes down. CI runs it after the formatting check.
Refs #373
debug-api.ts declares the debug API Angular publishes, checked against
@angular/core 22.1, with the first version of each function. The overlay
hands it to the collectors instead of any, and the collectors keep their
narrow interfaces. A type test checks that the two still fit, and a test
against a real app fails when Angular publishes a function the type does
not declare.
Refs #373
initPangularHub() and the Vite plugin take extraDevframes, the same input
as initHub({ devframes }), and mount them after Pangular Inspector behind
the same gate and one-time code. An entry with the pangular id is dropped
with a warning, so it can't replace the inspector.
Refs #373
fetch-collector.ts wraps window.fetch once and records each call next to
the HttpClient calls with nativeFetch: true. It only looks: the app gets
the original response and the body is never read. providePangularHttp()
starts it at bootstrap, the overlay otherwise. withPangular() notes its
requests in flight, so the fetch() that FetchBackend makes for them is
not counted twice. The timeline tags these calls fetch() and
list-http-calls flags them as native fetch.
Refs #369
server-errors.ts records what no page can report: console.error during a
traced server render or in Angular's ErrorHandler format, and the error
payloads Vite sends to its browser overlay (Vite plugin only). The
devframe server keeps them in the server-errors shared state, grouped and
masked, expires a group 30 minutes after its last repeat, and serves them
through list-server-errors and a Server errors section on the Errors tab.
Also shortens the list-http-calls description back under the 300
character limit the tool description test sets.
Refs #372
Performance: perf-collector.ts observes LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, TTFB and long
tasks (long animation frames where the browser has them) through
PerformanceObserver, outside the Angular zone, and names the element and
component behind LCP and INP. The page pushes on change with its pageId;
the server rates each value, keeps one entry per page and expires it.
The web-vitals tool and a Performance tab show it.
Build: build-graph.ts reads the Vite dev server's client module graph on
request (handed over by the Vite plugin) with its lazy boundaries, and
the chunks of the last production build with gzip sizes and, with
stats.json, their entry points. The module-graph and chunk-sizes tools
and a Build tab show it.
Both are new inspectors that inspectors.performance and inspectors.build
turn off.
Refs #372, #373
The axe harness waits for a Loading state on every tab, and the Build tab
said Reading. get-build-graph is now a snapshot query, so a static report
keeps the chunks of the build next to it instead of an error.
pnpm lint counts the lines of each package and panel source file over
1,500 as pangular(max-lines) in the same ratchet, so a long file can't
grow and a new file can't pass the limit. The baseline holds today's
twelve long files.
Refs #373
Moves four blocks of the devframe server's setup, unchanged, into
devframe-component-tools.ts, devframe-router-tools.ts,
devframe-forms-tools.ts and devframe-http-tools.ts. Each exports one
register function that takes the setup values it reads as an env object,
typed through devframe-env.ts. The forms block hands back the wait-for
form condition it sets up. The tools, their order and their answers stay
the same, and devframe.ts goes from 4,876 to 2,933 lines.
Refs #373
"Workers Builds: angular-devtools" fails on every PR right now because of a Cloudflare dashboard setting (#431, tracked in #482). It isn't caused by this PR.
The PR adds Performance and Build tabs, server-error reporting, and native fetch() capture. It adds support for extra devframes, separates agent-tool registration into modules, types Angular’s development debug API, and introduces an oxlint warning baseline and line-count ratchet.

Add performance and build to the open-in-paneltab list.
The tab row lists exactly the PANEL_TABS ids from before this change. This PR adds { id: 'performance' } and { id: 'build' } to PANEL_TABS in packages/devtools/src/config.ts (Lines 402-403). Agents and readers who rely on this row do not learn that the two new tabs exist.
Based on learnings: "Behaviour, option, label or tool changes update the matching docs page in the same pull request." As per coding guidelines: "Check names exactly: labels, buttons, tool names, arguments, option names and defaults."

Split this paragraph into shorter sentences and a clearer structure.
The paragraph covers four ideas: the oxlint run, the baseline comparison, the --update flow, and the line limit. The docs guidelines require one idea per sentence and short, plain sentences. The phrase "also a new file" is a fragment. Consider using active voice, for example "The check also fails for a new file." Split the line-limit rule into its own paragraph.

163-163: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Low value
Match the file name with the full prefix, not the first colon segment.
line.split(':')[0] works for POSIX paths. A Windows-style path with a drive letter would break it. The ratchet already normalizes paths to relative / form, so the current risk is low. Anchor the match on the : separator if absolute paths can ever appear.

48-48: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Low value
Count lines the same way as editors and wc -l.
split('\n').length counts one extra line when a file ends with a trailing newline. A file with exactly 1,500 lines of content reports 1,501 and enters the baseline. Use a count that ignores the final empty segment.

Narrow the claim about debug-api.test.ts coverage.
The text says the test checks that collectors "still fit" NgDebugApi. The test asserts only five collector interfaces: component, injector, signal, errors, and defer. Other collectors declare their own narrow window.ng interfaces and are not covered. Reword to say it covers those five, or add the remaining interfaces to the test. This keeps the claim matching the code, as the docs guidelines require.

Narrow the `debug-api.test.ts` coverage claim in the Angular debug APIs guidance
to state that it checks the component, injector, signal, errors, and defer
collector interfaces; do not imply that it covers every collector’s `window.ng`

Read only the half of the build graph each tool needs.
read() calls readBuildGraph, which reads both halves of the graph. It reads Vite's module graph, and it also reads every chunk in the build output: up to 500 files, each read and compressed with gzipSync. All of this work is synchronous.
module-graph uses only vite, but it still compresses every production chunk on each call. chunk-sizes uses only output, but it still walks the module graph. With a large build on disk, each module-graph call blocks the dev server's event loop for work it throws away.
Split the read: give module-graph only the Vite part and chunk-sizes only the output part. Keep the full read for get-build-graph.
// build-graph.tsexportfunctionreadBuildGraph(root: string,options: {outputDir?: string;vite?: boolean;output?: boolean}={},): BuildGraph{// skip the vite block when options.vite === false, the output block when options.output === false}

The 98th percentile skipped one interaction per 50 of those kept in the map, which holds only interactions of 40 ms or more and is trimmed past 200, so INP came out worse than the browser's. It now counts performance.interactionCount where the browser has it, and otherwise every new interaction id, which trimming does not reset. Tests cover fast interactions and a trimmed map.
The status line that confirms Clear server errors sat inside the section that renders only while there are errors, so it left the page with the list and the confirmation was never read. It now stays mounted outside the section.
…tors
devframe.ts takes main's version with this branch's own changes on top: the Performance, Build and server error registrations and the native fetch() wording. The four tool blocks main changed since the split (components, router, forms and HTTP) are moved out again into devframe-component-tools.ts, devframe-router-tools.ts, devframe-forms-tools.ts and devframe-http-tools.ts from main's code, so main's changes to them are kept. The env of each module gains the setup values main's blocks now read (navigationStream, previewScans, routerHttpCalls, formPageUrl). The tool count is 117.
…atchet
forms-timeline.ts imported ElementRef without using it. router-stream.ts copies the waiter set on purpose, since each waiter removes itself while it wakes, so the line says so and skips no-useless-spread.
The WebMCP globals, signal store internals, injector arguments and navigation API fakes in the tests main brought in now have narrow types, so the no-explicit-any counts stay under the lint baseline.
The Build tab's module filter was a hand-written input type=search, which the page conventions test from main rejects. It now uses app-search-field with saved filters under the build view.
Main grew app.ts, the analog, component, injector, network, pipes, signal and store pages, config.ts, devframe.ts, ngrx-collector.ts and popup.ts past their baselines. Those lines are main's, so the baseline takes them, and the test any counts go down.
Re-split. devframe.ts takes main's version with this branch's own changes on top. The component, router, forms and HTTP tool blocks are moved out again from main's code into the four devframe-*-tools.ts modules, so main's changes there (the HTTP lint tool, follow/diff/preview navigations, the app argument from feat(router): several apps on one page, and Ionic stacks in the Capacitor tab #485, the forms Playwright export and pipe migrations) are all kept. Each module's env gains what main's blocks now read: navigationStream, previewScans, routerHttpCalls, formPageUrl, the app-aware requestRouterAction, and routerFor, which moved into the router module. devframe.ts is 3,224 lines.
Lint ratchet. The warnings main brought in are fixed: unused imports, test anys typed, and the intentional set copies marked. lint-baseline.json takes only the line counts main legitimately added. The Build tab's module filter now uses app-search-field, as main's page-conventions test requires.
Review 5814671302. INP counts every interaction (fa67e7e), the server errors status stays mounted (921c46a), and the open-in-panel tab list in tools.md (outside the diff) now names performance and build (41372d7).
Checks. Tools: 117 (tools.md and the changelog updated). Typecheck, the full package suite (4,365), the panel suite (1,018), the docs specs and pnpm lint pass locally.
…ol index
The tool index generator from #470 knew no label for this branch's performance and build inspectors, so pnpm docs:agent-tools threw on their tools. Both now have their tab label.

Confirm that the navigation-stream clear matches the cleared app.
When app is set and the page has no apps entry for it, secondary is false. The handler then calls navigationStream.clear(pageId). clearRouterNavigations clears the first app only when appId is not secondary. An unknown app id therefore clears the stream and broadcasts router-clear for an app that does not exist. The page's own history may also be cleared by the helper's first-app branch. Validate app against page.apps and ignore or reject unknown ids.

RegisterComponentAgentToolsEnv.providerValues.tool.inputSchema.properties spells out the full description text of tokenId and page as literal types. The text duplicates TOKEN_ID_ARGUMENT and PAGE_ARGUMENT. TOKEN_ID_ARGUMENT is already imported at Line 8 and PAGE_ARGUMENT at Line 48.
If anyone edits either description, pnpm typecheck fails at the devframe.ts call site. The failure has no behavioral cause. The fix is to reference the constants' types.
♻️ Proposed refactor
- tokenId: {- readonly type: 'string';- readonly description: 'Optional. The `tokenId` of the token (`tok-3`), from the injector tree or from an answer that lists several tokens with the same name. Pass it when two tokens share a name, such as two `InjectionToken` with the description `config`.';- };+ tokenId: typeof TOKEN_ID_ARGUMENT;
...
- page: {- readonly type: 'string';- readonly description: 'Page id, when more than one tab reports (see pangular:list-pages). Defaults to its first row.';- };+ page: typeof PAGE_ARGUMENT;
Confirm that PAGE_ARGUMENT has the same description as the current literal. If not, keep the literal type for page or pass the real constant type from devframe.ts.

Replace the duplicated literal types for tokenId and page in
RegisterComponentAgentToolsEnv.providerValues.tool.inputSchema.properties with
typeof TOKEN_ID_ARGUMENT and typeof PAGE_ARGUMENT, respectively, so the types
stay aligned with the exported schema constants.
Remove the unreachable throw branches and the triplicated eligibility logic in pangular:clear-recordings.
Line 307 builds clearTargets from clearRecordingTargets(config). That helper keeps a target only if agent.tools, inspectors and actions are all true for it. Line 327 refuses any target outside that list. So a single-target call (target === 'http') always has httpEligible === true. The throw new Error(...) branches at lines 350 and 351 never run. The same applies to the router branch (lines 370 and 371) and the analog branch (lines 408 and 409).
Only target === 'all' can reach the "not eligible" path, and that path only needs the skip message. The dead branches also differ from the rest of the module. Every other refusal here returns refusal(...), but these throw.
Keep the flag checks and the skip reason for 'all'. Remove the throw branches. Move the reason text into one helper shared by the three targets, so the checks cannot drift from clearRecordingTargets.

providePangularHttp() gated its early fetch() watcher on a runtime read of
globalThis.ngDevMode, which a bundler cannot fold, so the fetch collector and
its list of devtools paths (/__devframes/) stayed in every production build
and the security e2e flagged overlay code in the bundle. Gate it on a bare
ngDevMode, which production builds replace with false, so the whole branch
and the collector are dropped.
extraDevframesOf() only read the id of plain entries, so a promise or a
factory that resolved to a devframe with the id "pangular" reached initHub
and, with duplicationStrategy "throw", failed the whole hub. Wrap each lazy
entry so the reserved-id filter runs on what it resolves to; the hub awaits
the entries in order, so the order stays as given.
The page's own fetch() never reads the transfer cache, yet a call to a URL
the server also fetched was listed under "Fetched again in the browser" and
in explain-ssr-request as a cache miss. Leave native calls out of both. Fault
rules only apply through the HttpClient interceptor, so the response preview
of a native call shows why it cannot be mocked instead of "Mock this request".
The other form tools fall back to the default page when a call names no
form and no page, but explain-field passed its target as given, so a
path-only call searched every tab's forms. Apply the same default page.
A call with an app id the page never reported fell through to the first
app's branch and cleared the page's own history. Check the id against the
page's apps and refuse it with the ids the page has.
…r cache notes
Add performance and build to the PangularInspector type, replace the placeholder extra devframe example with a runnable one, describe the reserved id check as the hub now runs it, and say which transfer cache exclusions withPangular({transferCache}) can change.
…tors
Bring in #491 and #490. Main's devframe.ts changes go to the split
modules: the TransferState refetch to devframe-refetch-tools.ts and the
set-http-rule preset to devframe-http-tools.ts. The tool count is 118.
extension/ui is rebuilt in a later commit.
network-inspector.ts, store-inspector.ts, config.ts and devframe.ts grew with the main merge; the refetch tools went to their own module, so devframe.ts keeps only the call.
…counts
Three panel tests returned a value from a scrollTop setter; give the setters a block body. app.ts and component-tree.ts grew with #490, so record their line counts, and lower the count http-rule-tools.test.ts no longer reaches.
The merge kept main's index.html while the conflicting asset files were dropped, so the committed bundle loaded a script that no longer exists and the extension panel never connected.

…ff note (#497)
* test(overlay): run the debug API canary from Angular 14.0
The debug API test added in #489 calls `bootstrapApplication`, which
Angular publishes from 14.0, so it failed with "bootstrapApplication is
not a function" in the Angular 12.2 compat job. Gate it at 14.0, like the
other real-app tests that need a standalone bootstrap.
* fix(overlay): declare the toggleWatchSignal debug function
Angular 22.3 prereleases publish `ng.toggleWatchSignal` through their
internal global utils, so the debug API canary failed on Angular next
with an undeclared function. Add it to `NgDebugApi` as optional, with no
`@since` because no release has it yet, and to `NG_DEBUG_FUNCTIONS`.
The overlay does not call it. Regenerate the Angular debug API page.
* fix(signals): fold the params computed of Angular 22.3 resources
Angular 22.3 prereleases run a resource's params function in a new
`Resource#name.params` computed, which `extRequest` reads. Resource
folding never joined an edge from `extRequest`, because that node used
to run the user's params function and may read another resource. The
new `params` node was left on its own and showed as an extra unnamed
resource card ("resource 2" in the compat test).
Join `extRequest` to its own `params`, and treat `params` as the part
that reads user code, so a resource whose params read another resource
still stays apart from it. Released versions build no `params` node and
fold as before.
* fix(forms): show the writes-off note text in the Forms action bar
The template interpolated the writesOff input signal without calling it,
so the note read [Input Signal: ...] instead of the message.
* build(extension): rebuild the panel bundle
